Performance Brokerage Services Facilitates Acquisition of Winston Tractor Company by Premier Equipment

In an exciting development in the dealership industry, Performance Brokerage Services, North America’s leading dealership brokerage firm, recently announced the successful sale of Winston Tractor Company. The transaction brought together two reputable entities, Winston Tractor, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Premier Equipment Company. This merger signifies a notable shift in the agricultural and construction equipment market in the region.

Winston Tractor Company, a longstanding player in the industry, is well-known in the local community, being family-owned and managed by the Cockerham family for nearly 40 years. They have been integral to the agricultural equipment business since the 1960s, beginning with their first establishment, Charlotte Tractor. Over the years, they have built a substantial legacy, expanding their footprint across North Carolina and becoming authorized dealers for renowned brands like New Holland and Massey Ferguson.

The sale of Winston Tractor Company was executed seamlessly, thanks to the expertise of Performance Brokerage Services. Bobby Cockerham, a co-owner of Winston Tractor Company, expressed his gratitude towards the Performance Brokerage team for their support throughout the process. Cockerham noted, "Their professionalism, clear communication, and understanding of our company values allowed us to find a buyer who would respect our legacy and commitments to employees, customers, and OEM partners."

Performance Brokerage Services has established itself as an industry leader, having facilitated the sale of nearly 400 dealerships in the past five years alone, marking it as the most active dealership brokerage firm in North America. Pat Albero and Dan Argiro, Senior Partners from the Equipment Commercial Truck Division of Performance Brokerage Services, played a critical role as the exclusive sell-side advisors for this transaction.

Reflecting on this acquisition, Pat Albero remarked, "It was a privilege to assist in this sale, connecting Winston Tractor with Premier Equipment. Both organizations share a commitment to providing exceptional service to their customers and communities. With this acquisition, Winston Tractor’s customers will enjoy enhanced offerings and continued quality service due to Premier’s expanded resources and industry know-how."

On the other side of the acquisition, Premier Equipment Company, an affiliate of Curtis Lane Equipment, has now expanded its reach to five locations serving eastern and central North Carolina with the addition of Winston Tractor Company. With a staff of 80 employees, Premier Equipment is not only focused on growth but also on maintaining the legacy established by Winston Tractor Company.

Spencer Bellamy, President of Premier Equipment Company, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "The Premier team is eager to integrate Winston Tractor into our business model. Both companies share a vision of fostering lasting relationships with customers, employees, and the community. We are excited to meet the needs of agricultural producers, contractors, governmental agencies, and other businesses previously served by Winston Tractor."

Looking ahead, Winston Tractor Company will be rebranded as Premier Equipment Company but will continue operations from its existing location. This transition symbolizes not just a change in ownership but a promise to uphold the values and service excellence that customers have come to expect.

Performance Brokerage Services continues its mission to facilitate successful transactions in the dealership sector, ensuring that both buyers and sellers achieve their goals. Their unique approach of providing complimentary valuations without upfront fees and securing transactions while maintaining the highest ethical standards continues to attract clients across North America.

With this acquisition, the agricultural and construction equipment landscape in North Carolina is poised for positive growth and further development, benefiting not only the companies involved but also the communities they serve.
