University Lab Partners Launches the I-CREATE Program

The University Lab Partners (ULP), in collaboration with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), has announced the opening of applications for the much-anticipated I-CREATE program. This innovative initiative aims to support visionaries in the healthcare sector by providing an impressive funding range of $50,000 to $200,000, alongside a grand cash prize of $50,000. Accelerating Innovations in Health Security

The I-CREATE program, which stands for International Consortium for Research, Engineering, Acceleration of Technology Excellence, is part of BARDA's Medical Devices Diagnostics Hub. The primary goal of this initiative is to foster research and technological advancements that can lead to life-saving health solutions. ULP will select a cohort of startups and university innovators who are dedicated to developing cutting-edge diagnostics and medical devices that tackle critical issues in pandemic preparedness, infectious disease detection, and health equity.

This year, the program highlights various areas of interest, emphasizing the development of:

• - High-sensitivity, cost-effective molecular diagnostics, including at-home and point-of-care solutions.
• - Novel detection methods such as breath analysis and pathogen-agnostic platforms.
• - Deployable diagnostics designed specifically for underserved and rural communities.
• - Proof-of-concept validation for groundbreaking health security technologies.

Program Features

The I-CREATE initiative consists of two primary tracks: the I-CREATE Accelerator and the Non-Dilutive Funding program. Each offers unique benefits to enhance the capabilities of participating innovators.

I-CREATE Accelerator

This is a 12-week virtual program open to ten selected teams. It includes:

• - Weekly curriculum: Participants will receive education on business development, competitive analysis, market research, fundraising strategies, and more.
