ISPE Expands Its Global Network with the Greece and Cyprus Affiliate Launch
The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) is excited to announce the establishment of its new affiliate in Greece and Cyprus. This achievement marks a significant step in ISPE's commitment to strengthening its global outreach, now totaling over 40 affiliates and chapters worldwide. This new affiliate is set to provide a robust platform that aims to enhance communication and professional development opportunities for pharmaceutical professionals in the region.
According to Alex Vidras, the President and CEO of the ISPE Greece and Cyprus Affiliate, the journey to this landmark moment has been a collaborative effort that spanned over three years. This initiative is not just about creating a new chapter but is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of many volunteers who have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Their unyielding commitment has fostered a shared goal of enhancing the pharmaceutical landscape in Greece and Cyprus, where innovation, quality, and engineering excellence are prioritized.
In anticipation of its official launch, the Greece and Cyprus Affiliate has already demonstrated significant momentum. It organized a successful members-only event in Athens during December 2025, which served as a catalyst for future developments. The affiliate has also formed four regional technical practice groups, encouraging local professionals to collaborate and exchange expertise in their fields. Additionally, through collaboration with the University of Athens' Faculty of Pharmacy, the affiliate aims to engage the next generation of pharmaceutical professionals by providing educational presentations and practical workshops.
The primary focus of the Greece and Cyprus Affiliate is to foster advancements in education, mentorship, and professional development. By prioritizing these areas, the affiliate plans to strengthen the connection between the pharmaceutical industry and academia. Plans to create student chapters, nurture volunteer leadership opportunities, and cultivate a supportive environment for early-career professionals are already underway. This initiative aims not only to benefit current industry professionals but also to develop future leaders in pharmaceuticals.
ISPE encourages existing members in the region to connect with this new affiliate by updating their ISPE profile to include the Greece and Cyprus connection. For those who are not yet members but are interested in joining, more information is available on the ISPE website.
