BDHEA National Summit 2025: A Call to Action on Health Equity
The
Black Directors Health Equity Agenda (BDHEA) is set to host its flagship
National Summit on
October 13–14, 2025, in
Nashville, Tennessee. This pivotal two-day event aims to gather an impactful group of
Board Directors,
CEOs, and various stakeholders in the healthcare sector to confront and strategize solutions for serious health equity disparities that plague the nation.
In collaboration with
Meharry Medical College School of Global Health, the summit promises a converging platform where key voices can unite to address significant challenges within the healthcare landscape. The focus lies squarely on bridging gaps in both access and outcomes in health services, especially as America grapples with issues like staffing shortages and the complexities introduced by
AI in healthcare.
The Theme: Innovating for Impact
The overarching theme,
"Innovating for Impact: Bold Strategies, Breakthrough Solutions, and Powerful Collaborations," will guide discussions aimed at not only identifying problems but also implementing actionable solutions. Attendees will explore a range of critical topics, including the evolving role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, the economic, policy, and social shifts affecting health delivery, and strategies for aligning financial objectives across various healthcare entities.
Alongside panels led by community leaders, venture capitalists, and educational figures, the summit will feature interactive sessions intended to spark meaningful dialogue among participants. Deborah Phillips, the Executive Director of BDHEA, articulated the organization’s commitment to arming leaders with effective strategies and tools tailored for today’s healthcare challenges:
"Healthcare organizations face intense financial, workforce, and policy headwinds. By equipping leaders with proven strategies and practical tools, the 2025 BDHEA National Summit will be a catalyst for stronger governance, resource innovation, and better health for all."
A Community of Change-Makers
Since its inception in 2020, BDHEA has been championing the cause of
health equity through proactive governance and leadership, making it the first national coalition led by Black board directors and healthcare executives focused on leveraging their influence for positive change. Their successes include developing a pioneering
Health Equity Toolkit that serves as a comprehensive guide for governance, environmental and social governance (ESG) practices, and community health initiatives.
Their commitment has attracted partnerships with prestigious organizations such as the
American Hospital Association,
Deloitte, and
EY, reinforcing BDHEA's influence in policy advocacy and governance strategies that aim to drive lasting, measurable change in health equity.
A Commitment to Equity
According to Dr. James E.K. Hildreth, M.D., and President of Meharry Medical College, the work of BDHEA aligns seamlessly with their century-and-a-half-old mission of promoting health equity for all. He stated,
"The BDHEA's commitment to a healthier world for everyone aligns with Meharry's mission, and we are proud to be a leader in that enterprise."
