Lummus Technology Enhances Digital Solutions with NAPCON Acquisition
Lummus Completes Acquisition of NAPCON
In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its digital offerings, Lummus Technology has successfully completed its acquisition of NAPCON, the digital technology division previously owned by Neste. This acquisition, initially announced in April 2025, includes the transfer of key intellectual property, assets, and personnel from NAPCON, significantly enriching Lummus's digital portfolio.
Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technology, expressed enthusiasm over this milestone, emphasizing that integrating NAPCON’s advanced solutions will enhance their leadership in the digital transformation of the process industry. He noted, "This is a pivotal moment as we officially integrate the NAPCON digital solutions into our portfolio and welcome many new talented individuals to our team.” The acquisition positions Lummus to better assist clients in improving operational safety, performance, and sustainability through AI-driven technologies.
The NAPCON suite is particularly noteworthy for its utilization of artificial intelligence, advanced process controls, and automation, all tailored to boost safety, efficiency, and sustainability in industrial operations. Continually developed to meet high demands in production profitability, the NAPCON software stands out in the competitive landscape of process and production technologies.
Amitabha Sinha, co-Managing Director of Lummus Digital, highlighted that the addition of NAPCON will significantly expand Lummus's digital capabilities. “This structure ensures that Lummus Technology remains at the forefront of innovation while empowering Lummus Digital to deliver cutting-edge, AI-driven solutions to our customers,” he stated. The successful transaction also establishes a Strategic Collaboration Agreement between Lummus and Neste, ensuring ongoing delivery of NAPCON services to Neste and its subsidiaries.
Lummus Technology is recognized globally for its development of process technologies and energy solutions that cater to a variety of sectors including petrochemicals, gas processing, and renewables, all while focusing on environmental sustainability. This commitment to creating a low carbon future underpins their operational ethos.
The deal also includes partnerships with several entities, including Ferroman Engineering Oy, which alongside Lummus Digital, will provide NAPCON digital services to existing licensees. Lummus Digital, a joint venture with TCG Digital, aims to merge process engineering with advanced data science to meet client needs more effectively. Ferroman is known for its expertise in automation and engineering solutions within the steel and process industries.
The acquisition of NAPCON not only strengthens Lummus's existing portfolio but aligns with the company's strategic vision of leveraging technology to drive greater efficiency within industrial operations. As industries look toward digital transformation, Lummus Technology is now better equipped to lead the charge in adopting AI and digital technologies that will redefine future manufacturing processes.
As Lummus embarks on this new chapter, industry watchers will undoubtedly closely monitor how the inclusion of NAPCON’s cutting-edge digital solutions will impact their clients and the broader market.
