Tokyo Digital Academy Young Engineer Course



The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with the General Foundation GovTech Tokyo, is launching its Young Engineer Course for the 2024 fiscal year. This initiative is designed for young professionals in the technology sector, helping them enhance their careers and boost their earning potential while producing highly skilled digital transformation (DX) talent in the city.

Course Overview


The program provides a reskilling opportunity in three trending fields: App Development, Cloud Infrastructure, and AI/Machine Learning. Participants will be supported by dedicated concierges to address daily learning inquiries and career-related concerns, aiming to help them achieve their career aspirations.

Key Features of the Young Engineer Course


  • - High-Value Reskilling: Gain skills in app development, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML within a short time frame.
  • - Concierge Support: Each participant will receive personalized assistance from a concierge dedicated to facilitating career advancement.
  • - Funding Incentive: Upon completing the reskilling program, participants may receive a grant of up to ¥300,000 to cover course fees.

Eligibility Criteria


To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Individuals born on or after April 2, 1991.
2. Experience in an IT-related position and a commitment to continuing in the field.
3. A strong desire to advance their career through employment or job change.
4. Residency or employment in Tokyo, with intent to continue working in the area post-completion.

Approximately 500 candidates will be accepted, subject to selection procedures.

Course Offerings


Reskilling Programs


The course offers practical learning in three key areas:

1. App Development
Participants will learn essential front-end and back-end techniques critical for web application design and development. It’s tailored for those seeking to solidify their skills while engaging in personal project work.
- React Course (basic to advanced levels) — Provided by Samurai Co., cost: ¥300,000.
- Go Course (basic to advanced levels) — Provided by Samurai Co., cost: ¥300,000.

2. Cloud Infrastructure
Students will understand and build systems using cloud services. The program includes foundational knowledge as well as hands-on design and implementation.
- Cloud Infrastructure Basics Course — Provided by Kagaku Co., cost: ¥297,000.
- Cloud Infrastructure Basics Course — Provided by Classmethod Co., cost: ¥330,000.

3. AI/Machine Learning
This segment will cover everything from basic data analysis to advanced machine learning applications using Python.
- AI/Machine Learning Course (basic to advanced levels) — Provided by Samurai Co., cost: ¥300,000.
- AI/Machine Learning Course — Provided by Kagaku Co., cost: ¥297,000.

Financial Assistance


Participants who complete the program may receive funding for up to ¥300,000 to cover tuition costs, with the disbursement process taking 1-2 months post-application.

Support Structure


Every student is assigned a concierge who guides them through the program, ensuring their concerns are addressed, whether related to academia or career progression. This support includes assistance with resume writing, interview preparation, and portfolio development.

Events will be organized to foster peer collaboration, such as:
1. Kick-off Events: Learn from industry professionals through lectures and workshops.
2. Matching Events: Companies will present job opportunities and answer participant questions.
3. Pitch Events: Participants will have the chance to present their portfolios and gain constructive feedback from employers.

Job placement support is also offered, aligning participants’ skills and aspirations with potential employers. Additionally, funding assistance of up to ¥200,000 can be provided for graduates to facilitate additional training and certification.
