Fractus Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against ResMed in Southern California
Fractus Takes Legal Action Against ResMed for Patent Violations
In a significant move to protect its intellectual property, Fractus, a leader in geometry-based antenna technology, has filed a patent infringement complaint against ResMed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. The lawsuit, identified by the number 325-cv-02680-LL-JLB, centers around allegations that ResMed's sleep apnea treatment devices and associated connected solutions infringe upon several of Fractus's patents that feature cutting-edge, multiband antenna innovations.
Fractus has long been at the forefront of wireless connectivity solutions, investing decades in research to develop miniaturized and highly efficient antennas used across diverse industries. According to the company's CEO, Jordi Ilario, the complaint serves as a defense of their proprietary technology, stating, “When companies utilize our patented technology without a license, we take action to safeguard our intellectual property rights and ensure a level playing field for innovators who honor these rights.”
The patent infringements alleged in the lawsuit touch upon various aspects of the technology central to ResMed's offerings. “Connectivity is increasingly crucial in the field of digital health and remote patient monitoring,” Ilario further emphasized, underscoring the importance of preserving the integrity and value of their innovations. This approach aims to allow tech leaders to build upon a solid and appropriately licensed foundation.
Adding to the discourse, Ruben Bonet, Executive Chairman of Fractus, remarked on the growing significance of remote healthcare technologies, highlighting that proper licensing not only benefits Fractus but also ensures that the entire industry can continue to advance without infringing on established patents.
Fractus's legal representation comes from Kobre & Kim LLP, and the litigation team is being led by experienced intellectual property litigators Michael Ng, Daniel Zaheer, and George Stamatopoulos. Ng expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to collaborate with Fractus, stating, “We are honored to work again with Fractus to advocate for its groundbreaking innovations, which have enhanced the lives of countless individuals worldwide.”
