Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Finals Concludes



On May 26, 2025, Shenzhen played host to the successful ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Finals. This ninth edition of the competition set a new record by attracting over 210,000 students and instructors from more than 2,000 universities across more than 100 countries. After various national and regional competitions, 179 teams from 48 countries advanced to the global event.

The finals consisted of intense competition in three areas: Practice, Innovation, and Programming. The highest honors were awarded to 18 outstanding teams hailing from 9 countries, including China, Algeria, Brazil, the Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tanzania, and Singapore.

Highlights of the Competition


Innovation Contest Grand Prize Winners


The Grand Prize for the Innovation Contest was awarded to teams from the following institutions:
  • - Bulacan State University in the Philippines
  • - Beijing University of Technology in China
  • - Technical Sciences Faculty from the University of Kragujevac in Serbia
  • - Faculty of Science and Technology from Moulay Ismail University in Morocco.

Practical Competition Results


In the Practical Competition focused on Networking, major prizes went to teams from:
  • - Shenzhen Information Technology Institute in China
  • - Federal Institute of Tocantins in Brazil
  • - Federal University of Technology, Minna in Nigeria
  • - A joint team from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, University of Dar es Salaam, and University of Dodoma in Tanzania.

For the Practical Competition - Cloud Track, the Grand Prizes were awarded to:
  • - iACADEMY in the Philippines
  • - Batna 2 University and National School of Computer Science from Algeria
  • - Tianjin University of Technology and Education in China
  • - Singapore University of Social Sciences.

In the Practical Competition - Computer Science category, notable winners included:
  • - Guilin University of Electronic Technology in China
  • - Federal University of Technology, Minna in Nigeria
  • - University of Bejaia and the National School of Computer Science SBA in Algeria
  • - Cebu Institute of Technology University in the Philippines.

Programming Contest Grand Prize


The Grand Prize for the Programming Contest was awarded to a team from the Shenzhen Polytechnic in China.

Special Awards


To acknowledge outstanding contributions beyond technical excellence, various special awards were presented. The Women in Technology Award was given to four all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya. The Green Development Award was presented to a team from Ghana, while 18 distinguished instructors from 10 countries (including China, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Hungary, and Turkey) were recognized for their contributions to ICT education with the Most Valuable Instructor Award.

Vision for Future


During his keynote speech, Ritchie Peng, Director of Strategy and Business Development for Huawei's ICT division, emphasized the continual evolution of competition themes aimed at fostering learning and innovation. He stated that the Practical Competition aligns with Huawei's vision for a Smart World 2030, encouraging students to master cloud computing, big data, and AI to drive societal progress. The Innovation Competition seeks to focus on green development and digital inclusion, motivating participants to solve real-world challenges in critical sectors such as agriculture, health, and education through ICT.

As digital transformation accelerates globally, the demand for qualified professionals in AI, big data, and cybersecurity continues to rise. Huawei's ICT Competition addresses this skill gap by providing multiple areas such as Practice, Innovation, and Programming, along with initiatives such as industry-academic collaboration and tailored curriculum development. These efforts are aimed at equipping students with the in-demand skills needed for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

In addition, this year’s competition featured an AI-Accelerated Educational Transformation Summit, where experts explored the essential role of AI in intelligent education. Huawei also officially announced the AI capabilities of their Intelligent Academy Platform, aimed at improving traditional educational practices.
