Bringing Light to Off-Grid Communities: A Collaborative Campaign
On February 5, 2026, the Pal System Cooperative Union (based in Shinjuku, Tokyo) held a donation ceremony at the headquarters of ADRA Japan, an accredited non-profit organization located in Shibuya, Tokyo. This event focused on their campaign to deliver solar lanterns to regions in Ethiopia lacking electricity. Through a dedicated campaign page, participants pledged to reduce lighting usage, contributing to a donation fund that totaled ¥137,830.
The ceremony took place at ADRA Japan's office, attended by Ryoko Nishiu, chairperson of the Pal System Environmental Committee, and Kuniko Matsumoto, vice-chairperson. They presented the donation certificate along with heartfelt messages from over 12,000 participants to Yasuki Aoki, ADRA Japan's secretary general.
