Groundwater Festival Comes to Life in Lakewood
The Water Replenishment District (WRD) is thrilled to announce the upcoming
16th Annual Groundwater Festival, scheduled for
May 2, 2026, from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their headquarters located at
4040 Paramount Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90746. This beloved event is a free, family-friendly celebration focused on the vital role that groundwater plays in Southern California's water supply.
Groundwater is a crucial resource, supplying almost half of the total water demand in WRD's service area. With this festival, the WRD aims to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding our underground water reserves, which are often overlooked yet essential for our daily lives.
A Day of Learning and Fun
The Groundwater Festival promises an engaging experience, featuring
over 30 interactive booths packed with educational materials and exciting giveaways suitable for attendees of all ages. Families can partake in
hands-on science demonstrations, enjoy
water-themed games, and partake in various activities designed to promote sustainable water practices. With
live entertainment, delicious food options, and even a raffle, there's something to pique everyone's interest.

In addition to the festivities, the WRD will also take this opportunity to recognize local leaders for their significant contributions to groundwater preservation. Council member
Kristina Duggan from Long Beach, representatives from the City of Torrance, and the
Compton Unified School District will be honored for their impactful advocacy that aligns with WRD's mission of ensuring a sustainable water future.
