Clou Energy Storage Unveils Desert-Ready Energy Solutions
From October 12 to 14, 2025, Clou Energy Storage took center stage at the Solar & Storage Live KSA event in Riyadh, where it introduced state-of-the-art energy storage technologies specifically designed for large-scale applications in public utilities, commercial sectors, and industries. Among the highlights was the Aqua C3.0 Pro liquid-cooled energy storage system, which is engineered to withstand the extreme conditions prevalent in the desert climate of the Middle East and Africa. This presentation emphasizes Clou's commitment to innovating solutions that meet the unique demands of regional markets, securing its position at the forefront of the energy storage sector.
Addressing Saudi Arabia’s Energy Vision 2030
Saudi Arabia aims to derive more than 50% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030 as part of its Vision 2030 initiative. To facilitate this shift, the country is actively adopting advanced energy storage technologies that aim to resolve significant challenges associated with renewable energy systems. These challenges include enhancing the stability of electricity production, improving grid flexibility, and maximizing overall energy efficiency.
During the exhibition, Clou showcased its Aqua C3.0 Pro system, which boasts a capacity of 6.88 MWh in a single cabinet, complemented by a high-capacity cell exceeding 600 Ah. This advance marks a remarkable improvement in energy efficiency, safety, and operational convenience, allowing for a reduced total cost of ownership by approximately 10.63%. Designed with the demanding desert conditions in mind, the Aqua C3.0 Pro utilizes three main technologies: advanced thermal management, adaptable air conditioning solutions, and customized protections against sand and dust intrusions.
Innovative Technology for Harsh Environments
The innovative thermal management system enhances performance by utilizing the synergy between an advanced insulated structural design and a powerful liquid-cooling unit. This configuration significantly mitigates thermal reductions and ensures stable output even at ambient temperatures reaching 55°C. To tackle the challenges presented by extreme heat, the system incorporates a high-capacity medium voltage skid (MT), which facilitates continuous full power output up to 55°C, thus meeting operational demands of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Furthermore, the Aqua C3.0 Pro is designed to provide reliable performance across variable climatic conditions, with adaptive features that respond to diverse operational environments.
The tailored design also incorporates fortified defenses against sand and dust, enhancing the system's operational reliability in harsh conditions. In addition to unveiling new products like the Aqua-C2.5 liquid-cooled storage unit, Clou also exhibited its advanced product matrix, including the CI Aqua-E233 energy storage system and CLOU EMS, covering various scenarios from grid-side applications to CI operations.
Proven Track Record and Future Implications
With nearly three decades of extensive expertise in the electrical sector, Clou has successfully initiated numerous benchmark projects globally. These include large-scale energy storage initiatives in environments like the Atacama Desert in Chile, facing challenges such as high temperatures and sandstorms, and marine-proximate energy storage solutions in humid, saline conditions in Guangdong, China. Drawing upon in-depth knowledge of global energy needs and environmental nuances, Clou persistently champions the energy transition through customized solutions, thereby reinforcing its global leadership in the energy storage arena. Ultimately, Clou Energy Storage's innovations promise to revolutionize energy management in extreme conditions, setting the stage for a sustainable future.
