Synology's ActiveProtect Manager 1.2 Boosts Enterprise Data Resilience with Enhanced Features

Synology Launches ActiveProtect Manager 1.2 for Enhanced Data Resilience

On April 6, 2026, Synology proudly unveiled ActiveProtect Manager (APM) 1.2, the latest update to its data protection appliance series, ActiveProtect. This significant update introduces substantial enhancements in centralized management capabilities and expands platform support, allowing organizations to bolster data resilience across diverse IT environments.

Significant Centralized Management Enhancements

One of the remarkable features of APM 1.2 is the doubled centralized management capacity for the DP7400 and DP7200 appliances. Organizations can now manage and monitor up to 300,000 workloads from a single interface. Additionally, this update allows the DP320 and DP340 appliances to function as management servers, providing businesses and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) with the flexibility to adapt to a variety of deployment scenarios.

"ActiveProtect has received a strong response from the market since its inception," said JiaYu Liu, Executive Vice President of the Data Protection Group at Synology. He elaborated, "Organizations today place importance on reliability, simplicity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, seeking modern alternatives to traditional backup software. APM 1.2 enhances deployment flexibility and expands support to meet evolving data protection needs."

Expanded Platform Support

To keep pace with the changing technology landscape, APM 1.2 extends support for the latest platforms and operating systems. The update includes backup functionalities for macOS 26 and major Linux distributions, as well as enhanced compatibility with Hyper-V on Windows Server 2025, significantly improving the protection of critical database environments.

Strengthened Data Protection with 3-2-1-1-0 Strategy

APM 1.2 further fortifies data protection by enhancing backup copy workflows. Features such as retroactive copies and extended retention periods help ensure that backup protection remains aligned with an organization’s Service Level Agreement (SLA), regardless of changes in deployment environments or protection policies. Moreover, the real-time progress tracking enables teams to clearly understand the status of backup copies, quickly identify potential issues, and respond as needed.

Availability

ActiveProtect appliances are available worldwide through Synology's authorized resellers and partners. Existing users can take advantage of the APM 1.2 update, ensuring they benefit from the latest advancements in data protection technology. For more detailed information, visit Synology’s website.

In conclusion, Synology's APM 1.2 signifies a step forward in data protection, providing organizations with the robust tools necessary to navigate the complexities of modern IT environments while safeguarding their essential data.
