Mary T. McDowell Announces Departure from Autodesk Board
In a significant announcement on February 27, 2025, Autodesk, Inc. revealed that Mary T. McDowell will not seek re-election to the board at the upcoming 2025 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. This marks the end of an impactful journey that began when McDowell joined the board in March 2010. Her tenure has been characterized by her exemplary leadership and substantial contributions to the company’s growth.
Stacy Smith, Chair of the Autodesk Board, expressed deep gratitude for McDowell's commitment and vision that supported Autodesk's significant achievements over the past 15 years. "Mary has been a vital part of our success, overseeing our strategic direction and fostering significant growth and profitability," said Smith.
McDowell's contributions helped position Autodesk favorably within the competitive landscape of design and engineering solutions. During her tenure, the company not only increased shareholder value but also expanded its influence in sectors crucial to technological advancement. "I reflect on my time with gratitude for the brilliant colleagues I’ve worked alongside on the Board," said McDowell, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that underpinned Autodesk's journey of innovation.
In December 2024, Autodesk had previously announced that Lorrie Norrington would also step down from the board at the company’s upcoming meeting. New appointments, including John Cahill and Ram Krishnan, have been made to infuse the board with extensive experience in driving shareholder value. Cahill is known for his leadership as former Chairman and CEO of Kraft Foods, while Krishnan currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Emerson.
These changes indicate Autodesk's ongoing commitment to maintaining a robust board composed of independent directors who can provide effective oversight and strategic guidance. Smith noted, "While we will miss Lorrie's and Mary's contributions, we are well-prepared for the future."
As Autodesk anticipates these changes, the reduction of the board's size aligns with its previously stated goals. This strategic adjustment aims to enhance decision-making processes and maintain agility as the company navigates the complexities of the design and manufacturing landscape.
Autodesk remains resolute in its mission to empower designers, engineers, builders, and creators. The company enables its customers to leverage data for better business and environmental outcomes, driven by its innovative Design and Make Platform.
