Accessia Health Enriches Leadership Team to Enhance Patient-Centric Care
Accessia Health, a prominent nonprofit focused on patient assistance, has announced the expansion of its leadership team alongside the introduction of two strategic councils aimed at enhancing its mission of patient-centered care. With new executive hires and refreshed advisory councils, the organization is making substantial strides in ensuring that patient voices are integrated into its program development and decision-making processes.
On September 30, 2025, Accessia Health welcomed Alan Wood and James P. Johnson to its executive team. Alan Wood will take on the role of Executive Vice President of Development and Growth, where he will lead fundraising efforts, business development, and create strategic partnerships. Wood brings with him over 25 years of diverse experience in the nonprofit and pharmaceutical sectors, having previously served as the EVP of Business Development at another charitable organization. Known for his talent in forming impactful corporate partnerships, he is also a key advocate for health equity and innovative donor engagement.
Joining him is James P. Johnson, who assumes the position of Executive Vice President of Operations. Johnson will spearhead the operational strategy and information technology initiatives at Accessia Health. His extensive background, spanning over 25 years in Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial health plans, includes significant roles at established health organizations such as Virginia Premier and Molina Healthcare of Virginia. Johnson is recognized for his focus on achieving operational excellence and developing value-based care programs.
Tiara Green, President of Accessia Health, expressed enthusiasm for the new additions: "Alan and James bring exceptional experience across the healthcare ecosystem and a shared commitment to putting those we serve at the center of all we do, guiding our strategic decisions." As the organization continues to grow and evolve, Green emphasizes the importance of a strong leadership team in advancing Accessia Health's holistic approach.
In addition to expanding its executive team, Accessia Health has relaunched its Patient Advocacy Committee (PAC), now offering a structured platform for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to share their experiences. This revitalized PAC aims to ensure that the organization’s programs are shaped by real-life insights and reflect the diverse needs of the communities it serves. By actively listening to constituents, Accessia Health aims to enhance the efficacy and relevance of its services.
Moreover, the newly established Medical Advisory Council (MAC) is set to convene leading healthcare experts, providing the organization with medical guidance and recommendations to maintain its position at the forefront of the patient assistance industry while promoting equitable access to healthcare for all.
Mitch Mula, the Board Chairman, remarked, "These leadership appointments and advisory councils build on our mission and our belief that the best outcomes happen when we listen to the communities we serve and respond with programs and services that meet them where they are."
