Memorial Healthcare System Launches New Cardiovascular Institute to Enhance Patient Care

Enhancing Cardiovascular Care in Pembroke Pines

Memorial Healthcare System has taken a significant leap forward in providing advanced cardiovascular care with the recent opening of the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute (MCVI) at Memorial Hospital West. This new facility is set to redefine how patients in Pembroke Pines and surrounding areas receive heart and vascular services.

A $15.59 Million Commitment

The investment of $15.59 million into this state-of-the-art facility showcases the healthcare provider's dedication to improving patient outcomes and addressing the growing demand for cardiovascular services in Broward County. Spanning approximately 20,000 square feet, the MCVI consolidates various services previously scattered across multiple locations into a single, comprehensive center, allowing for easier access to a wide range of care options.

Dr. Ralph Levy, Chief of Adult Cardiology Medical Services at Memorial Healthcare System, emphasizes the importance of this development: "At the center of this expansion is a commitment to the community and enhancing patient access. As demand for cardiovascular services continues to grow, having the right space and infrastructure is critical." With this facility, the healthcare system aims to provide coordinated, efficient, and convenient care to patients.

Redefined Patient Experience

The newly designed space features modern upgrades that support both efficiency and effectiveness in patient care. Its offerings include an increase in exam rooms from 17 to 29, which enables more patients to be seen daily. Additionally, the physician and staff area has doubled in capacity, growing from 12 to 24 offices, reflecting anticipated growth in service demand.

One of the standout advancements in this facility is the addition of a dedicated outpatient cardiac CT imaging service, now the first in Broward County. Equipped with a Siemens Alpha 256-slice cardiac CT scanner, this new imaging technology offers enhanced diagnostic capabilities, allowing for higher image resolution and improved accuracy. Dr. Levy notes, "This technology allows us to make better decisions earlier. Instead of sending patients directly to invasive procedures, we can use advanced imaging to guide care, enhancing outcomes and potentially reducing unnecessary interventions."

Comprehensive Cardiovascular Services

Beyond advanced imaging, the expanded MCVI will support a full spectrum of cardiovascular services. This includes advanced heart failure management, echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, and infusion therapy, thereby meeting various patient needs under one roof.

The facility also aids in enhancing workforce development through its growing cardiology fellowship program, providing future cardiologists with a rich learning environment equipped with advanced technology and increased training opportunities.

Shane Strum, Interim CEO of Memorial Healthcare System, highlights the significance of this initiative: "This expansion allows us to deliver the latest cardiovascular care close to home for those living in western Broward County. By expanding our capabilities west while investing in advanced technology and training, our program continues to grow to meet community needs."

Opening Ceremony and Future Perspective

The MCVI officially opened its doors on March 31, marking a monumental step in the community's journey toward improved healthcare services. Located at 801 N. Flamingo Road, the new center promises to be a beacon of hope and high-quality care for patients seeking specialized cardiovascular services.

In conclusion, the introduction of the Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Memorial Hospital West not only signifies a major investment in healthcare but also showcases a commitment to advancing patient care in the heart of Pembroke Pines. For over 70 years, Memorial Healthcare System has prioritized a person-centered approach to health, aiming to heal the body, mind, and spirit of those they serve. With this expansion, they reaffirm their promise to deliver exceptional healthcare for the community they are devoted to serving.
