This appointment marks a significant step forward for CodePath, a national nonprofit committed to transforming higher education and cultivating the first generation of AI-native tech innovators.

Brian Madigan arrives with a wealth of experience — over 20 years in the technology sector, specializing in scaling venture-backed startups. His career showcases an impressive track record of enhancing operational efficiency, fostering sustainable growth, and developing outstanding user experiences in diverse fields including education, marketplaces, and consumer platforms.

In his role as COO, Madigan will oversee crucial aspects of CodePath's business operations, revenue generation strategies, and the organization’s overall scalability. His expertise is particularly vital as CodePath expands its AI-focused curriculum, fortifies national partnerships, and broadens its university presence. The nonprofit aims to increase its impact dramatically, and Madigan’s leadership is set to play a pivotal role in this vision.

A Timely Addition to the Team

Michael Ellison, Co-founder and CEO of CodePath, expressed enthusiasm about Madigan's appointment, stating, “Brian is joining CodePath at a pivotal moment of growth. His deep experience leading operations across high-growth organizations will be instrumental as we scale our impact further and prepare students for the AI-driven workforce.” This alignment signifies CodePath's dedication to positioning itself at the forefront of educational innovation, as it aims to reshape how technology is integrated into learning.

Prior to joining CodePath, Brian Madigan served as COO at Podium Education, where he made significant contributions to internal operations and revenue strategies. Under his leadership, Podium saw remarkable revenue growth while simultaneously improving gross margins and doubling key productivity metrics. His resume also highlights his tenure at Grubhub, where he was the Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Clients, managing a substantial budget of $500 million through a 250-person team. His earlier role as COO at Course Hero was notable for scaling the company from 7 to an impressive 120 employees and securing Series A funding.

Madigan's career also includes significant appointments at Retrevo (acquired by Shopzilla) and eBay. At eBay, he played a major role in leading multi-hundred-million-dollar product categories and launching initiatives that drastically improved seller experiences, thereby driving growth within the marketplace.

Commitment to AI-native Engineering Education

Madigan holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, bringing a solid educational background to his operations role. In a statement reflecting on his new position, Madigan noted, “As the business and education landscapes are rapidly evolving, I'm honored to bring my experience to CodePath in support of its mission to develop the first AI-native generation of engineers, and unlock trillions in economic impact.”

CodePath’s commitment to revolutionizing tech education aligns perfectly with Madigan's expertise and vision. His onboarding is anticipated to catalyze significant advancements in how the organization operates and ultimately delivers value to its students, partners, and educational institutions across the country.
