Promising Drill Results from La Verde
Hot Chili Limited, a notable player in the mining sector, recently unveiled exciting new results from its ongoing drilling operations at the La Verde porphyry copper-gold project located in Chile's coastal range. This project is approximately 30 km south of the company's central processing hub planned at Costa Fuego, an area already recognized for its economic mineralization potential.
The latest results, particularly from drillhole DKP063, have generated significant interest among investors and stakeholders alike. This hole returned a remarkable 62 meters grading 0.91% Copper Equivalent (CuEq), combined with substantial gold assays, beginning at just 20 meters from the surface. Importantly, this interval is part of a broader 398-meter intersection grading 0.45% CuEq from the very surface, indicating a robust near-surface enrichment zone that is expected to facilitate an economic mining operation.
Significant Results Highlight
The results from DKP063 are not isolated. Another noteworthy drillhole, DKP075, indicated a partial intersection of 132 meters grading 0.57% CuEq from 24 meters depth, with compelling grades continuing deeper into the hole. This finding is crucial as it connects two previously interpreted high-grade areas, offering insights into the continuity of copper-gold mineralization across La Verde.
Meanwhile, drillhole DKP064 provided further evidence of high-grade mineralization, yielding 126 meters grading 0.45% CuEq from a depth of 54 meters. Included in this intersection were excellent grades of 0.70% CuEq over a 26-meter section, substantiating the grade continuity in the southern portion of the deposit.
Continued Expansion on High-Grade Mineralization
Christian Easterday, Managing Director of Hot Chili, expressed enthusiasm over the finding, noting that the results reflect one of the strongest near-surface intersections drilled so far at La Verde. These findings not only validate the existing geological theories regarding La Verde but also bolster confidence in developing the site into a high-grade starter pit for the Costa Fuego operation.
With assays from 22 additional drillholes still pending, there lies an opportunity for further positive news, as these results will likely contribute to enhancing Hot Chili's Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) for La Verde. The integration of La Verde into the Costa Fuego Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) is anticipated, aiming to finalize and submit the environmental impact assessment by the second quarter of 2027.
Strategic Significance and Future Prospects
The drilling at La Verde is part of a strategic initiative by Hot Chili to solidify its foothold in the copper-gold sector. This endeavor aligns with broader trends where demand for copper, an essential material in green technologies and renewable energy projects, continues to grow. The successful extraction of High-Grade copper-gold from La Verde significantly enhances the company’s position within the mining industry.
The implications of these drilling programs are twofold. Firstly, they aim to confirm the resource potential at La Verde, with a clear focus on establishing a maiden resource by the end of the year. Secondly, as Hot Chili seeks to integrate these findings into its development strategies, there’s a concerted effort to maximize the potential profitability of the Costa Fuego operations.
As the project progresses with a steady flow of results, industry specialists and investors will closely monitor the developments at La Verde. The next stages include the completion of ongoing drilling programs and preparation for the upcoming resource assessments, which together will illuminate the future of Hot Chili and its ambitious plans for the La Verde project.
