This year, the theme is 'Blending the Streetscape,' focusing on harmonizing aesthetics and functionality. Collaborating with local dining establishments, the initiative will seamlessly integrate shops and roads by removing bollards, thereby enhancing the walkability of street spaces. Attendees will experience inviting green settings, with the installation of new tables, benches, furniture, and planters that further connect greenery with the road ambiance.

The event will also introduce various heat relief measures in response to the sweltering summer conditions. Block 1 will feature sunshades designed to block up to 90% of sunlight, while Block 2 will include air conditioning in outdoor seating areas. Additionally, artificial turf with heat resistance will cover approximately 910 square meters across Blocks 2 and 3. The implementation considers pedestrian-only road options to cultivate diverse social interactions in this redesigned urban oasis, prioritizing human-centric use of Marunouchi.

Special Features and Activities

During the event period from September 14 to 16, the space in Block 1 will be transformed into an athletic track, in collaboration with ASICS Japan, who is an official partner of the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships. This initiative will host various experiences to engage citizens in athletic activities and celebrate the spirit of the competition live in the heart of the city.
