Ho Chi Minh City Enhances Tourism Links with New Flight to Copenhagen, Denmark
Ho Chi Minh City is taking a significant step to attract high-spending international tourists by partnering with Vietnam Airlines to launch direct flights to Copenhagen, Denmark. The Vietnam Tourism Promotion Program took place on November 19, 2025, in Copenhagen to introduce the new routes and underscore Vietnam as a dynamic and welcoming tourist destination.
Starting December 15, 2025, Vietnam Airlines will operate the Ho Chi Minh City-Copenhagen route with three round-trip flights per week using their modern Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The direct flights will significantly reduce travel time to approximately 12 hours, providing travelers with a more efficient and comfortable journey between the two cities. The flights will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 22:45 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and return from Copenhagen at 10:50 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
This new route represents a crucial development in expanding Vietnam Airlines' operations across Europe, serving not just as a conduit for tourism but also for trade and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Northern Europe. It strengthens Ho Chi Minh City's standing as a premier economic, cultural, and tourism hub in Vietnam, enhancing its role as a significant aviation gateway between Southeast Asia and Europe.
In collaboration with Hanoi Department of Tourism and Saigontourist Group, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism is also co-hosting a tourism promotion roadshow in Copenhagen. This event is designed to highlight the distinct offerings of the “New Ho Chi Minh City” and its surrounding areas. The promotional activities revolve around three key aspects:
1. Ho Chi Minh City: Positioned as the financial, cultural, and international tourism hub of Vietnam, it boasts a vibrant business atmosphere and premium urban experiences.
2. Binh Duong Area: This region is evolving into a center focused on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) tourism, enhancing the interaction between industry sectors and tourism services.
3. Ba Ria - Vung Tau Area: Known for its coastal tourism and high-end leisure options, this area enriches the city’s tourism offerings and attracts visitors seeking beach and water sport experiences.
As Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, pointed out, the launch of this direct flight to Copenhagen is a landmark event that reinforces the city's status as Vietnam's premier international tourism gateway. By facilitating easier access between Vietnam and the Nordic markets, the new route aims to foster not only tourism but also broader cultural exchanges.
The heightened collaboration between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and Vietnam Airlines is seen as a mutual effort to optimize synergies between travel and cultural promotion while paving the way for increased international partnerships and sustainable tourism growth. Together, they aim to draw more visitors from Northern Europe, looking to explore the dynamic landscapes, rich history, and diverse cultural experiences that Vietnam has to offer.
This initiative is seen as a crucial move, as global air travel continues to recover post-pandemic. With many travelers seeking new destinations that offer both adventure and rich cultural experiences, Ho Chi Minh City, with its new link to Copenhagen, is set to capture the attention of Nordic travelers. The tourism promotion program also leverages social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube, to maintain engagement and visibility amongst potential travelers.
In conclusion, the new direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Copenhagen symbolize an exciting gateway for enhanced tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Denmark, showcasing the country's potential as an appealing destination for international visitors.
