Meizu's Strategic Return to the Global Market



At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, held in March 2025, Meizu made waves by announcing its strong return to the global market. In exclusive interviews, Gu Binbin, the Executive Director of Meizu's overseas operations, detailed the brand's revitalized strategy and its innovative Flyme AI ecosystem.

With a dedicated fan base built over the years in both China and worldwide, Meizu’s comeback is eagerly anticipated. Gu Binbin emphasized that the brand's global strategy relies on two main pillars: market demand and technological innovation. Currently, Meizu operates in over 30 countries and regions across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe. The challenge lies in tailoring solutions to meet specific market needs, leading to Meizu’s adopted approach, "Global Vision, Local Execution."

This strategy ensures that marketing, research and development, and customer support are closely aligned with the unique dynamics of each market, forming the foundation of Meizu's localization efforts. Gu mentioned that the company aims to solidify its presence in existing markets while exploring new opportunities.

Furthermore, Meizu's competitive edge stems from its innovative ecosystem, which integrates Smartphones, XR (Extended Reality), and Smart Cars, underpinned by its "All in AI" strategy. This philosophy holds that smartphones, augmented reality, and intelligent vehicles are all critical components of the digital future. Although serving distinct purposes, these elements are technically interconnected. The core of this system is the Flyme AIOS, designed to seamlessly connect smartphones, XR glasses, and vehicles, thereby enhancing the consumer experience. For instance, users can set navigation routes on their smartphones that sync with screens in XR glasses or smart cars, streamlining workflows and adding significant value to the product.

In the past year, Meizu has reinforced its focus on the "All in AI" strategy, positioning artificial intelligence at the heart of its product development across the spectrum. By leveraging AI, Meizu has constructed a converged ecosystem that caters to multiple scenarios, enhancing user functionality. For instance, AI technology optimizes features on mobile devices such as photo capture, voice assistants, and personalized recommendations. XR glasses enable real-time translation, navigation, and conference assistance through AI capabilities. Similarly, in intelligent vehicles, the Flyme Auto system, powered by artificial intelligence, elevates the driving experience.

Notably, Meizu’s collaboration with Geely Group accelerates the dispatch of Flyme Auto technology, propelling the industry forward. As one of the most widely adopted intelligent cockpit operating systems in China, Flyme Auto is installed in over 500,000 vehicles and continues to gain traction. By January 2025, the sales volume of smart cars equipped with Flyme Auto reached over 132,000 units, positioning it as a market leader. Moreover, Flyme Auto has initiated internationalization efforts alongside Geely, adapting for 22 models including Geely and Lynk & Co vehicles, thereby exporting the technology to regions such as the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and across the Asia-Pacific, offering a fresh intelligent experience to countless consumers worldwide.
