North Island Credit Union Teams Up to Equip San Diego Students for Success

North Island Credit Union's Annual Back-to-School Initiative

In a commendable effort to support local students, North Island Credit Union has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego for the sixth consecutive year. This collaboration aims to help children get ready for a successful school year by equipping them with essential school supplies. As part of its annual Back 2 School Drive, the credit union has generously provided over 170 backpacks filled with vital school supplies, aiding students throughout the county.

The backpacks were gathered through a community-driven initiative, where members and employees of the credit union contributed during a branch drive. All the supplies stocked within these backpacks were furnished by North Island Credit Union itself, showcasing the organization's commitment to fostering education within the region.

Steve O'Connell, the President and CEO of North Island Credit Union, stated, "Every student deserves to begin the school year feeling prepared, confident, and supported. This annual drive is a meaningful way for our members and employees to help local families and give students the tools they need to succeed. We are grateful for our continued partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego and its commitment to helping youth across our region thrive."

The distribution of these backpacks will take place before the autumn school term begins, targeting elementary through high school students who are part of the Boys & Girls Club programs spread throughout San Diego County. This initiative not only provides educational supplies but also strengthens community ties, creating a supportive environment for students.

Michelle Malin, the President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing that many take school supplies for granted. She remarked, "The smiles on their faces when they select their new backpack is priceless. Partners like North Island Credit Union are making a tremendous impact. We cannot thank them enough for their support."

Established to provide a safe and engaging environment for children aged 5-18, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego serves at 22 community sites across the county. They focus on delivering quality programs that promote personal development and academic success.

In addition to its Backpack Drive, North Island Credit Union is recognized for its wide array of financial products and services, empowering community members and businesses alike. Founded in 1933, the credit union thrives by supporting its member base with various offerings, including personalized financial planning and comprehensive consumer banking options.

Seeking inclusivity, California Credit Union, the parent organization of North Island Credit Union, works diligently to provide financial services tailored to underserved communities. This commitment reflects in initiatives such as their Low Income Designation, offering affordable banking products aimed at building financial stability.

As the new school year approaches, North Island Credit Union, together with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, stands at the forefront of a vital mission: ensuring every student returns to school ready to succeed. Through this partnership, they inspire hope, foster education, and encourage community support, paving the way for a brighter future for the children in San Diego County.
