Bloomerang Appoints Dave Stevens as Chief AI Officer
In a significant move aimed at advancing its technology, Bloomerang, a trusted intelligent Giving Platform for over 24,000 nonprofits, has appointed Dave Stevens as its Chief AI Officer, effective July 1, 2026. This decision underscores Bloomerang's commitment to evolve its services from merely storing donor data to actively leveraging it for more effective fundraising.
Stevens, who previously led the Bloomerang Innovation Labs, is set to steer the company's AI strategy, focusing on model development and governance. His leadership will play a crucial role in developing the intelligent infrastructure that enhances the Bloomerang Giving Platform. According to Stevens, the goal is to transition nonprofits from data management to actionable insights.
At the recent GiveCon 2026, Bloomerang’s annual gathering, Stevens shared an inspiring vision for future fundraising technology, detailing how AI could transform the nonprofit sector. His strategy involves creating solutions that not only manage but also anticipate donor behavior, thereby empowering organizations to take proactive fundraising measures. He aims to build an AI framework that nonprofits can trust, emphasizing the importance of ownership in the intelligence used by these organizations.
Dennis Fois, CEO of Bloomerang, expressed confidence in Stevens' abilities, highlighting that he is one of the few leaders who have successfully architected and implemented AI in a software environment. Fois stated,
“Our customers have made it clear they want a platform that collaborates with them. Dave's role is to actualize that vision and ensure that the intelligence developed within our platform genuinely supports the nonprofits we serve.”
Stevens brings extensive expertise to the position, having spent over twenty years in technology innovation, especially in applied AI. His previous roles include Vice President of AI at CentralReach, where he established the company’s generative AI unit and launched multiple AI products before its acquisition by Roper Technologies. He also co-founded Chartlytics, which was later acquired by CentralReach, and launched the AI venture studio Rad/s2. Since early 2026, he has been advising Bloomerang and has authored a piece titled
“The Rise of the Chief AI Officer,” advocating for deep integration of AI capabilities into products rather than treating them as add-ons.
Stevens noted, “Bloomerang recognizes something extraordinary that no other player in our sector does: the complete lifecycle of giving and volunteering across vast networks of nonprofits, millions of donors, and dedicated volunteers. The potential to convert this into actionable intelligence that works alongside fundraisers is exhilarating. I am eager to help create a trustworthy system that empowers those in the nonprofit sector.”
In his role as Chief AI Officer, Stevens will closely work with Bloomerang's engineering and product teams to enhance AI features within their platform, including the AI fundraising strategist, Penny, and predictive donor intelligence stemming from a new collaboration with Dataro.
Bloomerang’s mission revolves around supporting nonprofits in raising funds, retaining supporters, and fostering impactful change. By integrating fundraising, customer relationship management, and volunteer coordination into one easy-to-use platform, it equips organizations with a comprehensive view of each supporter and aids in building robust relationships. With dedicated support from a passionate team, Bloomerang aims to be more than just software; it seeks to act as a growth partner for meaningful missions.
