Xryma Plc Sees Leadership Changes with Resignation of Key Board Members

Leadership Transitions at Xryma Plc

On October 2, 2026, Xryma Plc, a regulated banktech group renowned for providing cross-border open banking, international transactional banking, and real-time payment services across Europe and the UK under the ISX Financial® brand, reported significant changes in its board of directors. The resignations of Christakis Taoushanis and Adonis Pegasiou, both independent non-executive directors, are effective as of September 30, 2026.

Resignation of Key Figures

Christakis Taoushanis

Christakis Taoushanis, often referred to as Takis, has been an integral part of the Xryma board for nearly a decade. He played a pivotal role in leading the company through critical milestones, including obtaining the e-money institution license from the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC). His tenure includes the company's transition process, achieving seven years of consistent profits, and positioning Xryma for a listing on Euronext Paris. Notably, he spearheaded the company's direct participation in the T2 Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system operated by the European Central Bank, also preparing for direct connections to the Bank of England.

However, the CBC’s corporate governance guidelines stipulate that a board member serving over ten years is no longer considered independent. This change in his status means he cannot continue as the chair of the board. Taoushanis announced that his resignation aligns with CBC regulations, and he expressed gratitude for his time with the company, highlighting the relationships built throughout his tenure.

Nikogiannis Karantzis, the Group Managing Director and CEO of Xryma Plc, acknowledged Takis's leadership and mentorship during his career, emphasizing his valuable contributions and the impact of his departure on both colleagues and the board.

Adonis Pegasiou

Adonis Pegasiou had been part of Xryma's board for over four years before his resignation. Initially appointed on June 17, 2022, as an independent non-executive director, Pegasiou has also been serving as the academic director of the European Institute of Management and Finance (EIMF). With increasing demands from his primary role, coupled with the growing complexity of Xryma's operations, he determined that he could not fulfill the responsibilities required of him as a board member without compromising his professional commitments.

He communicated his decision to resign, wanting to prioritize his responsibilities at EIMF and ensure that he meets the high standards set by the CBC. Karantzis expressed appreciation for Pegasiou's dedication and expertise, acknowledging the value he brought in areas of corporate governance, risk, and compliance.

Looking Ahead

The resignations of both established leaders reflect Xryma Plc's commitment to adhering to regulatory guidelines while navigating the complexities of modern banking environments. The company is now tasked with finding suitable replacements who can maintain its high standards of governance and support its ongoing growth strategy within the competitive banktech landscape.

This leadership transition also represents an opportunity for Xryma Plc to renew its board composition, bringing in new perspectives and experiences that align with the evolving demands of the financial sector.
