Dive into the Lighthouse Week 2025 X Submission Campaign!
From October 25 to November 30, 2025, the Japan Foundation's Marine Culture Creation Forum will host the exciting 'Lighthouse Week 2025 X Submission Campaign'. This initiative encourages participants to explore Japan's rich lighthouse heritage while connecting with nature.
How to Participate
Participation involves a simple and fun process:
1.
Follow Us: Start by following our official account on X (formerly Twitter)
@umi_toudai.
2.
Collect Your Souvenir: Visit our events or designated information centers during the ‘Lighthouse Week’ to collect one of our limited souvenirs—either a sticker or a lighthouse protective talisman (灯台御守印).
- Stickers are usually distributed for free, although there might be a nominal fee at specific events.
- The lighthouse talisman is available for a contribution of 300 yen, which goes towards lighthouse maintenance.
3.
Capture the Moment: Take a photo with the souvenir and a lighthouse in the background. Post your picture on X using the hashtag
#LighthouseTime. With over 3000 lighthouses across Japan, you have a wide range of subjects to choose from!
Prizes
Five lucky participants will be randomly selected to win a
10,000 yen Amazon gift card! Get creative with your submissions—if you visit multiple lighthouses and capture them in different photos, you can submit entries for each!
The Purpose Behind the Campaign
This campaign is part of the broader Japan Foundation's initiative, the 'Ocean and Lighthouse Project', which aims to foster connections between people through the sea and raise awareness about the importance of preserving our marine environment for future generations. By engaging in lighthouse explorations, we not only celebrate our maritime culture but also contribute to environmental awareness through shared experiences.
