Donating for a Sustainable Future: BOOKMAGIC Campaign 2026
On June 5, the world recognizes Environmental Day, and this year, the certified NPO organization JEN is launching the
BOOKMAGIC Environmental Month Support Campaign 2026. This initiative encourages individuals to participate in international cooperation by donating unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, toys, and household appliances, including cooking and beauty equipment. The campaign aims to facilitate a sustainable method of helping those affected by conflict or disaster.
How the Campaign Works
Participating in the BOOKMAGIC campaign is straightforward. Gather items from your home that are no longer needed and pack them in a box. The total amount received from the sale of these items will be donated entirely to JEN. During the campaign period from June 1 to June 30, Book Off will add an additional 10% to the purchase amount as a bonus. Plus, shipping is free of charge (excluding Okinawa and some remote islands).
This sustainable international support model is allowing many individuals to engage in activities that contribute to environmental protection. Reducing waste through reuse not only mitigates environmental impact but also provides much-needed aid to people rebuilding their lives in challenging circumstances.
Empowering Lives
To illustrate the campaign's impact, consider this: if a donated book or DVD is appraised at 1,000 yen, that amount can provide three notebooks to children in Afghanistan. The unused items lying in your home can have a powerful influence on the future of children in distant countries.
Participation Guidelines
1. Collect unused books, CDs, DVDs, games, and other items from your household.
2. Carefully pack them in a cardboard box or paper bag, ensuring protection against damage.
3. Visit the official BOOKMAGIC website (
https://www.jen-npo.org/bookmagic) to schedule a free pickup.
4. After appraisal, the purchase amount plus an additional 10% will be donated to JEN.
Understanding Environmental Day
June 5 marks
