Green Energy & Company Partners with eRex for New Battery Storage Project

Green Energy & Company Partners with eRex in a New Venture

Green Energy & Company, headquartered in Tokyo, with a subsidiary called Green Energy Plus, has embarked on its third collaborative project with eRex, a significant player in the Japanese energy sector. This latest venture involves the construction of a power storage facility in the city of Kameoka, Kyoto Prefecture. The move comes in the context of Japan's growing emphasis on renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which, while beneficial, present challenges in terms of energy supply and demand management due to their inherent variability.

Importance of Energy Storage in Japan

As the country expands its renewable energy footprint, the stability of the power grid relies heavily on efficient energy management solutions. With fluctuating power generation from renewable sources, it has become critical to ensure a consistent and reliable energy supply. This is where the advanced control systems of grid-scale energy storage facilities, such as the one being constructed in Kameoka, play a pivotal role. By effectively regulating the supply and demand of electricity, these facilities contribute significantly to the stability of the national power grid, thereby addressing one of the key challenges facing the energy sector today.

Project Details

The recent contract signed by Green Energy Plus with eRex, which is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, marks yet another step in their strategic partnership. The Kameoka energy storage facility will feature a rated output of 1,999 kW and a nominal capacity of 8,147 kWh. This project follows on from previous initiatives in Miyazaki Prefecture and within the Tokyo Electric Power Company’s service area, demonstrating a commitment to expanding energy storage capabilities across Japan.

Green Energy & Company's Vision

Green Energy & Company's mission revolves around a sustainable future, encapsulated by their purpose statement: "To make the Earth and people greener with new norms." Their vision aims for a society where ten million individuals generate their own energy. Since its inception in 2009, Green Energy has established itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector, with approximately 5,500 development projects completed nationwide. Coming into 2024, the company is set to kick off its dedicated energy storage project, which includes nine operational sites and plans for 20 additional facilities, alongside ongoing development efforts across more than 100 potential new sites by July 2026.

Strengthening Collaborations

As a leading company in the energy storage industry, Green Energy & Company continues to foster partnerships with various municipalities and enterprises throughout Japan. By offering optimal solutions to meet the diverse demands of energy consumption, they are paving the way for a sustainable energy society. This collaborative approach aligns with their strategic goals and underscores the importance of teamwork in addressing Japan's energy challenges.
