Baluko Laundry Place Initiates Textile Recycling with PASSTO
Baluko Laundry Place, operated by OKULAB, is set to start a new textile collection service in collaboration with ECOMMIT, known as PASSTO, at its Kanazawa Shimino location. This initiative aims to promote sustainable practices by collecting old clothes and giving them a new life through recycling and reuse.
For many years, Baluko Laundry Place has advocated for maintaining and prolonging the life of clothing and bedding through superior laundry services. Following the successful implementation of PASSTO at other locations in Yoyogi Uehara and Komae, this latest service offers patrons at Kanazawa a convenient way to recycle clothes they can no longer wear as they transition their wardrobes each season.
As customers visit the coin laundry for their regular laundry chores, they can also bring along unwanted clothing and drop them into the PASSTO collection bins. Collected items will be reused both domestically and internationally and transformed into new resources, contributing significantly to sustainability efforts.

About PASSTO
The term “PASSTO” is a contraction of “PASS TO”, symbolizing the idea of passing items on to the next user and connecting to a sustainable future. Clothing and fashion accessories dropped off at PASSTO are collected, sorted, and redistributed with reuse as the primary goal. Items that cannot be reused are recycled, transforming them into raw materials for regenerated fibers and sustainable materials. This system boasts an impressive reuse and recycling rate of about 98%, significantly reducing CO2 emissions compared to simple incineration.
