MultiTech Unveils Niagara Driver at Tridium Summit
In a significant development for smart building management, MultiTech Systems has introduced its innovative Niagara Driver at the Tridium Niagara Summit held from April 7-9, 2026, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. This new software integration layer is designed to enhance the Tridium Niagara Framework, seamlessly integrating LoRaWAN sensors into the existing building management systems (BMS).
Historically, smart buildings faced the challenge of incorporating IoT sensors into their management systems effectively. The MultiTech Niagara Driver alleviates this issue by allowing building managers to add and configure LoRaWAN sensors directly within the Niagara Framework, a platform they are already familiar with for managing various building systems. Prior to this innovation, sensor setup required a separate configuration process within the MultiTech gateway, which could complicate deployment and data management. The introduction of the Niagara Driver eliminates these hurdles by allowing instantaneous access to normalized data points streaming directly into the Niagara system. This enables users to leverage control logic, alarms, scheduling, and analytics without the need for middleware, custom APIs, or MQTT pipelines.
MultiTech's Vice President of Sensor and Cloud Services, Matt Lubeley, emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing building management through secure and wireless IoT solutions. He stated, "Niagara is the industry standard for building integration, and MultiTech expands its capacity. By natively integrating IoT sensor networks and edge connectivity into Niagara, we streamline the integration process and lower deployment costs, all while uncovering valuable data that traditional BMS systems may overlook."
The broader IoT landscape shows that LoRaWAN is becoming a critical component of smart building projects. As highlighted by Alper Yegin, CEO of the LoRa Alliance, the technology is recognized for its security and maturity, marking it as a prominent choice for enhancing commercial and multitenant real estate systems. Yegin pointed out that the MultiTech Niagara Driver will drive further adoption of LoRaWAN in smart building initiatives, underscoring the technology's relevance and utility.
During the Niagara Summit, attendees were treated to live demonstrations showcasing the intuitive drag-and-drop onboarding process introduced by the Niagara Driver, alongside a unified dashboard for streamlined monitoring. For those eager to utilize this technology, the Niagara Driver will be available for free download from the Tridium Marketplace following the event.
