In a significant leadership change, the Board of Governors at Main Line Health has officially appointed Edward Jimenez, MBA, as the new President and CEO of the healthcare system, effective June 6, 2025. Jimenez comes with nearly three decades of progressive leadership experience, particularly in the healthcare sector, and is recognized for his ability to dramatically improve clinical quality and enhance organizational growth.
Jimenez currently serves as the President and CEO of University Hospital, a notable 500-bed academic medical center located in Newark, New Jersey. He steps into his new role at Main Line Health following an extensive nationwide search, one that saw many impressive candidates vying for the position. Ultimately, Jimenez’s extensive experience as a CEO and his profound commitment to quality and operational excellence stood out, earning him this pivotal responsibility.
A Proven Track Record
Under Jimenez’s guidance at University Hospital, the institution has undergone substantial transformations, including a remarkable $1.8 billion campus renovation and expansion initiative. Notably, the hospital achieved the top survival rate for liver transplants in the United States, and Jimenez fostered an impressive working environment that led to University Hospital’s recognition in Forbes' list of America’s Best Employers. His innovative strategies included the development of an ambulatory service model and an emphasis on network growth across various service lines.
Upon his appointment, Jimenez expressed his excitement, stating, “I am incredibly excited and deeply honored to have the opportunity to lead Main Line Health. I look forward to working with dedicated colleagues and medical staff who are integral to providing exceptional care to our community.” He is poised to build on the legacy of excellence established by his predecessor, Jack Lynch, who has led Main Line Health for over two decades and will retire on June 30, 2025.

Prior to his significant tenure at University Hospital, Jimenez held leadership roles across various distinguished healthcare organizations. Notably, he served as the CEO of UF Health for nearly a decade, significantly growing the organization from a $1 billion entity employing 8,000 individuals to a thriving $2.7 billion organization with 14,000 employees. Jimenez's focus on community partnerships resulted in the creation of several successful physician-hospital joint ventures which further enhanced service delivery in key areas.
In addition to his executive roles, Jimenez has contributed extensively to the healthcare field through numerous management and clinical research publications, establishing himself as a thought leader in the industry.

As he prepare for this transition, Jimenez will collaborate closely with Jack Lynch to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities. “I am excited to welcome Ed to Main Line Health.
