Celebrating the Living Campus: A 60-Year Journey at Zokei University
Tokyo Zokei University, founded in 1966 in Hachioji City, is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026. As part of the festivities, the Tokyo Zokei University Museum will host the "Living Campus Exhibition – ZOKEI Learning Environment and Its Expansion" from October 6 to November 17, 2025. This exhibition will provide visitors with a chance to reflect on the evolution of the Uzunuki campus and the learning experiences that have shaped the university.
The upcoming exhibition represents a collaborative effort by both faculty and students, showcasing a range of artworks and projects that highlight their diverse talents. Visitors can expect an impressive array of architectural models, prints, illustrations, photographs, digital media, and textiles, all reflecting the unique learning environment fostered by Zokei University. The exhibition aims to encapsulate the vision of the renowned architect Arata Isozaki, the vibrant learning atmosphere nurtured by adventurous students, and the educational programs that make use of the surrounding forest environment.
During the exhibition, attendees can participate in a variety of related events. One noteworthy highlight is a talk event featuring alumni of Zokei University, where they will share their memories of campus life, exploring the theme "Two Campuses: You and Me." This engaging gallery talk will be held on October 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, coinciding with the Creative Spiral Festival (CS Festival). It will be led by esteemed alumni and professors, including Masashi Koide and Hiroaki Jinushi.
To enhance visitor experience, Zokei University will host a unique “Campus Stamp Rally,” allowing participants to journey through the university grounds, collecting stamps as they go. This specially designed stamp rally features witty commentary on different campus buildings and captivating illustrations by Yujirou Miyazaki, faculty member and artist. Participants are encouraged to explore the university to find their favorite spots and leave with a memento from their visit.
