Concorde Career Colleges Offers Free Dental Care During National Dental Hygiene Month

Concorde Career Colleges Celebrates National Dental Hygiene Month

October marks National Dental Hygiene Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of oral health, and Concorde Career Colleges is stepping up to contribute to this cause. The organization is holding no-cost community events across several campuses to provide essential dental services, particularly for children aged 4 to 17. This initiative serves as a reminder of both the significance of dental hygiene practices and the pressing need to expand access to oral health services.

According to data from the CDC, an alarming 57 million Americans live in areas where dental care is limited. This highlights a significant disparity in access to oral healthcare services, underscoring the necessity for more funding and resources aimed at training a larger workforce of dental care professionals nationwide.

On October 13, Concorde’s dental hygiene programs will host special events called "Making Smiles," where a range of preventive dental services will be offered free of charge. Services include X-rays, dental cleanings, fluoride applications, sealants, and the distribution of dental kits containing essential oral care items. All care will be administered by Concorde’s dental hygiene students under the supervision of licensed professionals and faculty members.

This initiative has been made possible thanks to the support from sponsors like PDS Health, Heartland Dental, and Liberty Dental Plan. Kevin Prehn, President of Concorde Career Colleges, expressed pride in their community-focused approach. He affirmed, "Concorde Career Colleges is proud to serve our communities by helping bridge the gaps in oral health care access. These events allow our students to provide meaningful care while gaining valuable hands-on patient experience, and we’re grateful to our sponsors for joining us in this important initiative."

The following campuses will be hosting the no-cost dental services event:

Beyond National Dental Hygiene Month, Concorde Career Colleges is committed to enhancing access to dental care throughout the year. Their 14 campuses that have dental hygiene programs maintain Dental Hygiene Clinics, which provide low-cost preventive care options for local residents, addressing the unmet dental health needs of children, adults, and seniors alike. The clinic hours may vary based on location, ensuring that multiple community members can benefit from this vital service.
