The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA) has partnered with the official regional club "FRESCOBALL ALPS" and Agurico Corporation to host an exciting event titled "Frescoball Experience at Agurico Farm" on September 13, 2025. Frescoball, a sport designed for fun and camaraderie, offers opportunities for people of all ages to engage in healthy activities together.

Frescoball stands out as a beach sport that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, and with anyone. This event aims to embody and promote the sport's unique appeal. The FRESCOBALL ALPS club, led by Shohta Mambuchi, has been an active advocate of the sport in Nagano Prefecture, previously organizing various experience events in local parks and schools. For this particular event, the stunning backdrop of an onion farm will serve as a unique setting, illustrating how nature can enhance community engagement through sport.

Mambuchi expressed his enthusiasm for this innovative venture, stating, "This experience will transform farmland into a place for sports and community interaction. We hope to create an atmosphere where locals can connect with each other while enjoying a friendly rally amidst the fields."

What is Frescoball?

Frescoball is a unique sport that originated from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, first conceived on the iconic Copacabana Beach in 1945. Over the years, it has gained popularity across the globe. What makes frescoball unique is that it's a collaborative scoring sport where two players face each other, working together to maintain a rally instead of competing directly. Matches are held over five-minute time frames while maintaining a distance of seven meters.

This cooperative play style lends it the title of being a "thoughtful sport". As of September 2025, there are 28 officially recognized regional clubs and six sanctioned student organizations across Japan, fostering community bonds through frescoball. Established in 2013, the JFBA is committed to spreading awareness about the sport and aims to set up local clubs throughout all 47 prefectures in Japan by the end of 2025.
