Athena Technology Solutions Expands Operations to Europe with a New Office in Portugal
Athena Technology Solutions Expands into Europe
Athena Technology Solutions, a California-based company specializing in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), is taking a significant leap by opening its first European office in Porto, Portugal. Founded in 2011 in Fremont, California, Athena has grown to employ around 200 people across the United States and India and is now targeting European markets to expand its reach and service capabilities.
Launch of the New Office
The new Porto office will be crucial for the European operations, as it will encompass sales, project execution, customer support, and leadership roles. Athena is starting its Portuguese journey with an initial team of six employees, but it aims to scale this number to 20 within the first year, with plans to ultimately increase the workforce to 100 over the next five years. The company also has a target of acquiring five customers by the end of the financial year in December.
Senthil Ranganathan, founder and CEO of Athena Technology Solutions, emphasizes that expanding into Europe is a natural progression for the company. He states, "The MES business is thriving in the US, Europe, and Asia, and we must be where the demand is. Porto offered us the right talent for a swift start, a suitable technology ecosystem, and accessibility to our partners. This is the launchpad for our European operations."
Leadership in European Operations
Overseeing the European endeavor is Sachi Javli, the company's Global Head of Project Management. Athena is actively seeking various roles in Portugal and other European markets, including project managers, program managers, developers, and sales personnel, to support the initial setup and growth.
Service Offerings from Porto
In Porto, Athena will provide comprehensive MES services that cover system selection, implementation, integration, and support. Furthermore, the office will also handle Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and managed services for large multinational manufacturers across industries such as semiconductors, electronics, medical technology, solar energy, batteries, and other high-tech manufacturing sectors.
Athena has partnered with leading technology firms, including Critical Manufacturing—where it is a Premier Services Partner—as well as Siemens, with which it collaborates on the Opcenter MES platform. Additionally, it has a reseller agreement with Twinzo.
An exciting offering from Athena will be FabOrchestrator.AI™, an agent-based AI orchestration layer for manufacturing processes, which the company launched this year and aims to provide to European manufacturers.
Fulfilling Manufacturer Needs
Javli states, "Manufacturers do not invest in MES merely because of the software; they do so to achieve their goals regarding quality, throughput, compliance, and performance. With our team in Porto, proximity to our partners, and the backing of our service centers in India, we are equipped to respond to any project or proposal from day one."
Looking ahead, Athena is considering the establishment of a satellite office in Germany as part of its growth strategy, expanding its presence across Europe to cater to the diverse needs of manufacturers.
In conclusion, Athena Technology Solutions is gearing up to leverage its expertise in MES to meet the rising demands of the European market, and with the strategic move to Porto, it sets a strong foundation for future success in this competitive landscape.
