Armor Health Successfully Transitions Correctional Healthcare in Northwest Ohio

Transitioning to Armor Health

The Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio (CCNO) has successfully completed a transition to Armor Health, a prominent provider of integrated correctional healthcare, marking a significant shift in health service delivery. This change comes after Armor Health secured a new contract through a competitive request for proposals (RFP) process concluded in December 2025.

The actual transition took place at midnight on January 15, 2026, amid challenging winter storm conditions. Dennis Sullivan, the Executive Director of CCNO, expressed his satisfaction with the transition despite the adverse weather: “Transitions are never simple, but the weather added a whole different challenge. Armor came prepared and continued medical services without disruption.”

A Demonstration of Preparedness

The dedicated team at Armor Health showcased remarkable preparedness throughout this transition. Understanding the unique needs that arise in correctional settings, they proactively deployed two additional nurses right away. This swift action ensured stable staffing levels and allowed for the continuation of both medical and mental health services within the facility, thereby prioritizing the well-being of the patients.

“We are encouraged and optimistic about the partnership moving forward,” Sullivan remarked, noting Armor's efforts to make this transition as seamless as possible. This commitment is crucial, considering that the healthcare needs within correctional facilities can be particularly complex and demanding.

Commitment to Patient Care

Armor Health's CEO, Otto Campo, emphasized the company's mission to enhance the quality of care with a specific focus on the distinct needs of incarcerated individuals. “Armor's programs highlight the commitment to each patient's physical and mental well-being,” Campo stated. He further noted that Armor's skilled and devoted healthcare professionals are dedicated to implementing effective medical and behavioral health interventions.

The partnership aims to uphold CCNO’s mission to safeguard public health while maintaining secure conditions for inmates and employees alike. This involves ensuring that the facility operates efficiently as a cost-effective detention center servicing multiple counties, including Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, and Williams.

The Evolution of Correctional Healthcare

For over 21 years, Armor Health has been a leader in providing comprehensive care specifically tailored for local correctional facilities nationwide. Their approach integrates evidence-based medical and behavioral health services, effectively revolutionizing the healthcare paradigm in correctional environments. The use of advanced analytical tools, including risk scoring and predictive modeling, ensures that patient care is precisely targeted and delivered in a timely manner.

Collaborating with modern AI solutions from their partnership with Antidote-AI, Armor Health utilizes technological advancements to refine clinical protocols and enhance patient outcomes, making sure that the right care is administered at the right time, in the most suitable setting.

In summary, the transition of healthcare services to Armor Health at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio not only reflects an operational shift but also underscores a renewed commitment to improving the health outcomes of incarcerated individuals. As both parties cultivate a resilient and effective partnership, the overall focus remains firmly on providing exemplary healthcare to those in custody, paving the way for better health and rehabilitation.
