New Junior Robot Team Launching in Chiba for Students

Junior Robot Team Launches in Chiba

The Junior Robot Team (JRT), aimed at middle and elementary school students, has officially launched its first club in Chiba Prefecture, named Kashiwa-no-ha Timusa JRT. This club is spearheaded by the General Incorporated Association Next-Generation Robot Engineer Support Organization, commonly known as Scramble.

What is the Junior Robot Team?

The purpose of the Junior Robot Team is to provide the youth in local communities with a hands-on experience in advanced engineering, enabling students from 5th grade to 3rd year of middle school to collaborate and create robots. Each team is typically composed of about six children, meeting twice a month to undertake the challenge of building large-scale robots. One of the highlights of participating in JRT is the chance to compete in the Engineer Championship (often referred to as CORE) with a focus on not just learning, but also nurturing their qualities as future engineers.

The Junior Robot Team concept was first established in Kyoto in 2022, expanding to Osaka and Aichi in 2023, and with plans to reach Tokyo and Fukuoka in 2024. Now, with the opening of the Kashiwa-no-ha club, Chiba has become part of this growing initiative.

Call for Sponsors

Kashiwa-no-ha Timusa JRT and other Junior Robot Team clubs strive to keep participation fees low, making it accessible to all interested parties. This is facilitated by a team of volunteer engineers who serve as coaches and mentors, ensuring that expenses are primarily supported by local sponsors. To cultivate a pathway for young aspirants toward engineering, local businesses are encouraged to join in supporting this initiative.
