Rank Up's Commitment to Supporting Parents
Rank Up Inc., headquartered in Chuo City, Tokyo, is proud to announce its participation in Tokyo's initiative, the
Child Smile Movement, starting February 2026. This movement aims to foster a 'children-first' society, with organizations, including companies, NGOs, and educational institutions, collaborating to promote children's perspectives.
Founded by Yumiko Iwasaki in 2005, Rank Up embodies the philosophy of solving individual problems to contribute to the happiness of people worldwide. It has developed the original cosmetics brand,
Manara, and operates school-type facilities, such as
Clever Kids. Manara's flagship product, the
Hot Cleansing Gel, has become Japan's best-selling cleansing gel, with sales surpassing 29 million units. Rank Up’s commitment to work-life balance is reflected in its impressive 100% return-to-work rate following parental leave, earning recognition as a ‘Tokyo Life-Work Balance’ certified company in 2013 and 2016.
Child Smile Movement Overview
The Child Smile Movement aims to create a supportive society for children by collaborating with diverse sectors. Its ultimate goal is to foster a collective awareness towards treating children with care and respect. By participating, Rank Up seeks to contribute significantly to this vision, enabling a better environment for nurturing children while supporting working parents.
Rank Up's Innovative Support Structure
To ensure that employees with children thrive, Rank Up has implemented several unique support systems and regularly hosts support events. Here are some key initiatives:
Paid Sick Child Care Service
In scenarios where children fall ill unexpectedly, the company fully covers the cost of babysitters, which is typically around 20,000 to 30,000 yen per day. This initiative reduces the need for employees to take sudden leave for caregiving, supporting both the employees and their colleagues in maintaining a smooth workflow.
Super Flexible Work Hours & Bring Your Child to Work Policy
To help employees focus during times when their children are at home, Rank Up has introduced a
Super Flex System, allowing workers to adjust their hours between 5 AM and 10 PM. Furthermore, the
Bring Your Child to Work Policy accommodates employees needing childcare during school holidays, enabling parents to work alongside their children when necessary.
Parenting Experience Program
Since 2021, Rank Up has fostered mutual understanding between parents in the workforce and those without children through a unique 'Parenting Experience' program. Here, younger employees participate in daily activities with childcare staff, such as picking up children and preparing meals, facilitating understanding of the challenges faced by working parents.
Summer Vacation Research & Winter Calligraphy Events
Recognizing the burden of school assignments during long breaks, Rank Up organizes events to support parents. The
Summer Vacation Research Event and
Winter Calligraphy Event aim to ease the pressure on parents dealing with children’s homework during holidays.
In-House Childcare Goods Marketplace
An innovative initiative allows parents to donate outgrown clothing and toys to colleagues in need. This event not only helps those who feel burdened by unwanted items but also allows experiencing parents to share valuable insights with soon-to-be parents.
