Iridium Communications Enhances Board with Appointment of Monique Shivanandan

Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM), renowned for its innovative satellite communications, has announced an important addition to its Board of Directors. Effective immediately, Monique Shivanandan joins the board, bringing with her a wealth of experience in both cybersecurity and telecom sectors.

Monique Shivanandan currently holds the position of Group Chief Data Analytics Officer at HSBC Holdings plc, a major global financial services provider, where she has been pivotal since May 2023. Her background at HSBC encompasses a previous role as Chief Information Security Officer, showcasing her strong foundation in data protection and cybersecurity. Before her tenure at HSBC, Shivanandan was the Chief Information Officer for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, a position she held from 2017 to 2020.

Prior to her executive roles at HSBC and Chubb, Shivanandan served as Chief Information Officer at Aviva plc and Chief Technology Officer at Capital One Financial Corporation. Her diverse portfolio also includes roles with telecommunications giants BellSouth and BT Group plc. Notably, she is currently the chairwoman of the board for Sepio, a company specializing in cybersecurity asset risk management.

Moreover, Shivanandan has an impressive history with public company boards. She served on the board of directors for Network International, a digital commerce firm, from 2021 to 2024, contributing to various committees including audit and compensation. Additionally, she was on the board of managers for J.P. Morgan Securities from 2014 to 2018, where she was actively involved in audit and risk oversight.

Shivanandan is regarded as an independent director under prevailing regulations, and she will also participate on Iridium’s Compensation Committee. Her educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University, which compliments her vast experience in both technology and business.
