Taketa City in Oita Prefecture is hosting a series of consultation events designed to shed light on life and work in this idyllic rural setting. In partnership with Asian Bridge, the events aim to raise awareness for young urban dwellers interested in experiencing life in Taketa. Participants will have the chance to engage in discussions with professionals who have firsthand experience of relocating back to their hometown or moving to their preferred rural area.
Two different formats for these events are to be held, allowing interested individuals to connect with knowledgeable residents who can offer insights into living, working, and raising families in Taketa. Whether you are considering moving back (U-turn) to your hometown, relocating to Taketa, or looking for job opportunities in the area, you are encouraged to join.
What is the Taketa City Life Experience Consultation Event?
The Taketa City Life Experience Consultation event specifically targets families interested in relocation or rural living. Participants will have the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from Taketa who are familiar with the ins and outs of local life. This interactive event aims to answer questions such as:
- - What should I consider when thinking about relocating?
- - What are the job and child-rearing opportunities like?
- - How can I gather information while continuing to live in the metropolitan area?
Whether you are joining online via Zoom or attending the in-person event in Tokyo, participation is free of charge.

What is the Taketa City Living Experience Internship?
The Living Experience Internship program offers a short, immersive stay of two nights and three days in Taketa City, aimed at those considering rural relocation. Participants will gain firsthand experience of local work and community interactions, providing a realistic perspective on living in the area. This is more than mere tourism; it is about understanding and immersing oneself in the community.
The internship includes two types of programs: the “work-style” that offers work experience at local companies, and the “community experience” that allows for interaction with residents and participation in local events. Out of approximately 20 work programs and 10 community experience programs, participants can customize their stay to suit their preferences.
Taketa City has seen a record number of relocations over the past four years, thanks in part to this internship program which invites individuals to easily explore the city. Many participants, spanning a diverse age range from across the country, have already taken the leap to relocate to Taketa after experiencing the tour first-hand.
