UnionPay International (UPI), a global leader in payment solutions, is excited to announce a unique promotional initiative in partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). This exclusive offer is designed for international visitors traveling to China, aiming to provide them with enhanced payment experiences during their stay.
As part of the promotion, UnionPay cardholders from outside mainland China can enjoy instant discounts up to 15% at over 500 selected hotels across mainland China that support UnionPay's online payment system. This initiative aims to enhance the overall travel experience for foreign cardholders, making hotel stays both affordable and memorable.
Details of the Promotion
The promotional offer will be available from June 10 to October 31, 2025. Holders of UnionPay credit cards issued outside mainland China can avail themselves of these discounts when booking hotels on the official InterContinental Hotels or IHG One Rewards app, where UnionPay online payment is accepted. Specifically, cardholders from South Korea or those with UnionPay SplendorPlus Credit Cards can secure 15% off up to 400 RMB, while other international UnionPay cardholders will receive a 10% discount up to 200 RMB.

UnionPay's card network boasts a wide acceptance throughout China, allowing users easy access to ATMs and shops. With over 200 million UnionPay cards issued in 83 countries and regions, international visitors can expect seamless currency conversion without incurring high fees. Most popular foreign mobile wallets also support UnionPay QR codes, enabling convenient in-store payments without any extra applications required.
Travelers can further enhance their payment experience by linking their UnionPay cards issued abroad with Alipay or WeChat Pay to enjoy the promotional discounts without additional fees.
