CIMA's New Leadership: A Step into the Future



On June 24, 2026, Alfred Ramosedi, FCMA, CGMA, was elected as the 93rd President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) during the institution's Annual General Meeting. This significant appointment positions Ramosedi at the forefront of a vital evolution in the finance and accounting sectors.

Ramosedi also takes on the role of Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, an alliance that merges the strengths of CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). With a clear vision for the future, he is set to steer CIMA towards new horizons.

Emphasizing Trust and Innovation



In his inaugural address, Ramosedi highlighted the essence of trust in the profession. Extensive Experience in Financial Services



Ramosedi boasts over 30 years of experience in the financial services sector in South Africa. His career began at Nedbank Limited in 1995, where he held various leadership roles over 15 years. Subsequently, he became the head of Nedbank Private Bank, and further transited to notable positions at ABSA Bank and African Bank before assuming the CEO role at Bayport Financial Services in 2017.

Ramosedi's relationship with CIMA spans decades, starting as the secretary of CIMA’s Gauteng branch in 1998. His leadership journey progressed as he was appointed the president of CIMA’s regional committee in South Africa in 1999. His substantial contributions were acknowledged with the CIMA Silver Medal in 2013, reflecting his deep commitment to the organization.

After a brief break from council activities, Ramosedi returned to the CIMA council in 2023. His experience and insights were pivotal while serving as Vice President of CIMA and being an active committee member, which adds to the excitement around his presidency.
