December 2025 Prefectural Wage Growth Ranking, which highlights the employment trends across various job types including part-time, temporary, and full-time positions. Using big data from job postings across major recruitment platforms, this analysis provides crucial insights into the salary fluctuations in Japan over the past month.
The research extracted information on job availability from nine significant recruitment platforms, categorized by our employment types:

Key Findings
The report indicates notable wage increases across various employment types:
- - Part-time wages increased from -2.92% to +2.17%
- - Temporary roles saw a rise from -2.94% to +4.73%
- - Full-time employment showed changes between -0.42% to +1.30%
Top Performing Regions
- - Part-time Workers: The highest growth in wages for part-time positions was recorded in Tokushima Prefecture, with an increase of 2.17% compared to the previous month. The top three for part-time growth are:

2. Kochi (+1.65%)
3. Ehime (+1.01%)
- - Temporary Workers: For temporary positions, Ehime Prefecture topped at a 4.73% increase, followed by Mie and Nara both at 2.10% and 2.04% respectively.
- - Full-time Employees: In the full-time realm, Akita Prefecture led with a 1.30% growth, while Saga and Gifu maintained second and third positions, with increases of 1.17% and 0.93% respectively.
Worst Performers
The states with the least favorable wage changes included:
- - Part-time: Aichi (-2.31%), Ishikawa (-2.56%), and Fukui (-2.92%)
- - Temporary: Wakayama (-1.42%), Gunma (-2.40%), and Nagasaki (-2.94%)
- - Full-time: Aomori (-0.33%), Yamaguchi (-0.42%), and Oita (-0.42%)
Year-on-Year Wage Comparison
Looking closely at the wages in the leading and trailing regions for part-time work,
Tokushima witnessed a significant rise, reflecting an upward trend in average hourly wages from 1,097 yen between December 2024 and March 2025 to 1,175 yen in December.
In contrast,
Fukui's wage experience was marked by fluctuations. For temporary wage comparisons,
Ehime's recent hikes were greatly influenced by an influx of nursing job postings with competitive pay rates of 1,500 yen - 1,800 yen, while
Nagasaki exhibited gentler variations in average pay rates.
Full-time data showed that
Akita’s salaries rebounded from a low of 239,115 yen three months prior to December. By comparison,
Oita's salaries showed only slight fluctuations, teetering between -1% to +1%.
