Starting from December 13, 2025, YUGEN Gallery Fukuoka will host the much-anticipated exhibition, "TYPOGRAFFiTi 4-5," featuring the innovative works of graphic designer and artist Masakazu Kitayama. The exhibition will be open until January 19, 2026, split into two phases: the first from December 13 to December 25, and the second from January 7 to January 19. Located at 4F Stage 1, Nishidori, Daimyo, in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka, this gallery provides a vibrant platform for contemporary art.
Masakazu Kitayama, renowned for his dynamic artwork in the realm of music, especially CD jackets for artists such as Cornelius and Fujifabric, has crafted a unique blend of typography and graffiti, termed "TYPOGRAFFITI." This term reflects Kitayama’s philosophy of infusing meaningful messages into visual art. Now in its tenth year since its inception in 2015, this exhibition celebrates a decade of creativity.
During the event, visitors can explore and purchase exclusive merchandise that echoes Kitayama's signature style. Options will range from small, punchy stickers that can adorn your smartphone, to jewelry items like necklaces and earrings designed with acrylic materials. A standout item is the placard from his iconic piece, "NO WAR," epitomizing the striking mix of art and activism. As quantities are limited, it's advised to stop by as soon as possible to secure your favorite pieces.
Special Events and Guest Talks
In addition to the impressive array of merchandise, the exhibition will also feature engaging events, including talk sessions with prominent figures in the art community. Guests will provide insights into Kitayama's vision and artistic journey, allowing attendees to dive deeper into the world he creates. The first talk session will take place on December 14, 2025, featuring Masakazu Kitayama in a dialogue with Jin Nagao. Later, on January 14, 2026, he will converse with Tomoshi Okuda.
