Bunkyo Sports Festival 2026
Scheduled for
August 1, 2026, the
Bunkyo Sports Festival 2026 promises an exciting day filled with sports activities aimed at elementary school children and their parents, residing or studying in Bunkyo. This event will be held at the
Bunkyo Sports Center from
1:00 PM to 4:30 PM and is completely free of charge, allowing everyone the chance to participate without prior registration for most activities.
This year’s festival features an impressive lineup of activities designed to promote health, foster personal growth, and explore future possibilities for children. One of the key highlights is a throwing workshop conducted by the
Yomiuri Giants Academy, which aims to provide hands-on training to attendees. In addition, participants can enjoy a range of experience programs including universal sports, a family fitness test, and a basketball free-throw challenge, catering to children of all ages and abilities.
Engaging Talks and Seminars
Beyond physical activities, the festival also features insightful seminars led by experts. Attendees can look forward to a presentation titled
“Children's Futures Begin with the Joy of Movement” by Professor
Yuki Someya from Juntendo University, scheduled from
1:30 PM to 2:15 PM. Following this, former Japanese archery team member
Tetsuo Ogawa will discuss the importance of sports experience in shaping children's careers and motivating them positively at
2:30 PM. Finally, current students from the University of Tokyo will share their insights on maintaining a balance between academics and sports in a talk session beginning at
3:30 PM.

Who Will Participate?
The festival will feature prominent figures including coaches from the
Yomiuri Giants Academy, Mr. X (a former professional baseball player), and distinguished speakers such as Professor
Yuki Someya and
Tetsuo Ogawa. This diverse mix of experts aims to inspire and motivate both children and their parents.
