Support Project for Single Parents: Autumn Garden Gathering

On November 16, 2025, the Japan Marriage Support Association, led by Executive Director Koki Goto, will host a special event entitled the "Support Project for Single Parents: Autumn Garden Gathering" at the Taisho Memorial Hall in Kiyosumi Garden, Tokyo. This gathering aims to bring together single mothers and fathers (often referred to as "single mama and papa") to not only foster connections among parents but also contribute to a society that understands diverse family structures, including single-parent households.

Background

In Japan, there are approximately 1.34 million single-parent households, with around 80% comprising single mothers, as reported in a national survey conducted by the Children and Family Agency in 2021. Many individuals face challenges balancing childcare with work, economic burdens, and social isolation. With over 15 years of experience in public marriage support activities such as the "Independence Marriage Festival" and matchmaking events, our association is expanding its scope to include child-rearing support, restart assistance, and community cooperation into this new event.

3. Held in a Scenic Garden: Experience the event surrounded by nature at the beautiful Tokyo Metropolitan Kiyosumi Garden, allowing participants to take leisurely strolls and engage in relaxed conversations.
4. Free Childcare Service Available: A pre-booking childcare service will be provided for children aged 0 to pre-school age, ensuring parents can participate without worry as specialized staff will care for their children.
