Local Arizona College of Nursing Faculty Member Receives Doctoral Scholarship to Advance Nursing Education
Local Faculty Member Awarded Doctoral Scholarship
In a significant move to support nursing education, Taitum Godfrey, a faculty member from the Arizona College of Nursing (AZCN) at the Cincinnati campus, has been granted a full-tuition scholarship to pursue a doctoral degree at the American College of Education (ACE). This opportunity arises from a newly established partnership between AZCN and ACE, aimed at enhancing educational pathways for nursing professionals.
Taitum expressed her enthusiasm about receiving the scholarship, stating, 'This doctoral scholarship with ACE enables me to pursue an advanced leadership role within Arizona College of Nursing and participate in shaping national conversations about the future of nursing education.' Taitum's ambition to lead and innovate in the nursing field highlights the potential impact this scholarship program can have on educational standards and practices.
AZCN has dedicated itself to education since welcoming its first nursing students in 2023, proudly celebrating its first graduating class in 2025. As part of its mission, AZCN expresses a commitment to nurturing new nursing professionals, having nearly 5,000 alumni across the U.S.
The partnership with ACE not only allows faculty like Taitum to deepen their expertise but also provides AZCN graduates, faculty, and staff access to discounted tuition. This initiative has been acknowledged by ACE's Chief Growth Officer Monica Carson, who remarked, 'This partnership allows us to further address the nursing shortage, providing more opportunities for nurses to continue their education and fill critical needs.'
The broader implications of this scholarship extend to the healthcare landscape, addressing a critical need for qualified professionals in nursing. AZCN CEO Jason E. Anderson emphasized the importance of this collaboration, remarking, 'We are proud to create opportunities that support our graduates and team, furthering our mission to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the communities they serve.'
The Arizona College of Nursing aims to empower individuals through educational opportunities, offering a three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. With 24 campuses spanning 15 states, AZCN is designed to cultivate students for careers as Registered Nurses (RNs).
The American College of Education represents an alternative education avenue, specializing in affordable, online programs across various fields, including nursing and healthcare. ACE’s curriculum is designed to fit the needs of adult learners seeking to improve their professional qualifications and skills. Currently, ACE provides over 60 programs for students aiming for higher degrees, including doctorates.
This recent scholarship not only shines a spotlight on Taitum's commitment to education and nursing but also illustrates the critical role educational institutions play in addressing workforce shortages in healthcare. Through partnerships like the one between AZCN and ACE, the future of nursing education and the healthcare industry looks promising and well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
