Experience Timeless Beauty in Art and Nature
As our busy lives rush past us, it is easy to overlook the delicate moments that touch our hearts. Fukukiyo, the talented fabric flower artist, hopes to reignite those feelings through her exquisite creations. Her work, titled Fabric-Plants, involves the intricate process of dyeing and shaping fabric into flowers and leaves, breathing life into materials that transcend time.
From October 3rd to 5th, the Fukukiyo Fabric-Plants exhibition will showcase her stunning fabric flowers, along with a workshop dedicated to creating autumn-themed corsages. Attendees will have the opportunity to craft their own
Akisaki Corsage with options in green (limited to 4 participants) or purple (limited to 10 participants). The workshop not only allows participants to unleash their creativity but also serves as a moment of connection with nature and self.
The collaboration with Bene Ginza Salon will feature custom jewelry designs by Takane Motohashi and Naomi Matsumoto, inspired by Fukukiyo's fabric flowers. As natural stone and fabric intertwine, each piece of jewelry aims to encapsulate the essence of
Timeless Beauty, creating a harmonious blend of art and nature.
The Essence of Fukukiyo's Work
Fukukiyo handcrafts each petal and leaf from various textiles including silk, cotton, and rayon. Each piece is thoughtfully dyed, shaped with a hot iron for added depth, and layered to create lifelike, enchanting flowers that retain their beauty across time. Her work draws inspiration from the lush landscapes of her childhood, expressing the vivid colors of nature through textiles. Every creation aims not just to be a visual delight but to enrich the viewer's soul.
Fukukiyo’s artistic journey began in 2011 when she discovered fabric flowers, later apprenticing under Masayo Ato. Her accolades include exhibitions across Japan and a distinguished entry into the Kanazawa World Craft Triennale. Her upcoming solo exhibition in 2025 promises to showcase her evolving interpretation of beauty.
A Workshop Like No Other
To enhance the exhibition experience, a special workshop will allow art enthusiasts to craft a hand-rolled corsage using velvet, reminiscent of the rich colors of autumn. Participants will be guided in creating the main flower, supported by premade leaves and flower cores. No intricate skills are required, making it accessible to everyone. This workshop not only offers a chance to create a beautiful piece but also serves as an emotional journey, often evoking memories and personal reflections sparked by colors and textures.
