NRGene Canada Announces First Major Supply Deal for MaxBSF™ in Sustainable Agriculture

NRGene Canada Enters Commercial Production with MaxBSF™

In a groundbreaking move, NRGene Canada has signed its inaugural commercial supply agreement for the MaxBSF™ larvae, signaling a transformative shift from research and development to robust commercial operations within the thriving Black Soldier Fly (BSF) industry. This agreement positions NRGene Canada as a pioneering supplier of one-day-old MaxBSF™ larvae to Infinite Harvest Technologies Inc. (IHT), an innovative CleanTech company in Canada.

Innovative Waste Management with Bugs4Rent™
Infinite Harvest Technologies is set to launch its Bugs4Rent™ technology, leveraging the power of BSF larvae to upcycle agricultural food waste into valuable resources for both animal and soil nutrition. Through this partnership, IHT aims to enhance its waste processing capacity significantly, incorporating MaxBSF™ larvae as its primary Canadian supply by 2026, building on testing volumes that commenced early this year.

Performance Enhancements with MaxBSF™

The MaxBSF™ strain represents a remarkable breakthrough in the field of BSF genetics. Developed through the selective crossbreeding of multiple BSF lines sourced globally, this strain incorporates distinct performance benefits aimed at optimizing industrial-scale production. Utilizing NRGene's proprietary AI-driven genomics platform, extensive trials have demonstrated that MaxBSF™ can achieve:

  • - 50-150% faster growth compared to conventional BSF lines
  • - Production cycles of 7-8 days, a stark contrast to the typical 14 days in the industry
  • - Superior adaptation to a variety of feed mixes
  • - Improved feed conversion efficiency, yielding more larval biomass per unit of feed
  • - A 97% survival rate after two weeks in suspension, essential for logistical efficiency and scalability.

These advancements not only offer marginal improvements but fundamentally alter the operational capacity and economics of BSF facilities without necessitating additional infrastructure investments, thus transforming the entire BSF marketplace.

Scaling Operations in North America

The commercial launch of MaxBSF™ follows the completion of NRGene Canada's production facility located in Saskatoon, which serves as both a commercial hub and a continued research and development center for BSF genetics.
To meet the escalating demand for sustainable protein sources, NRGene Canada is currently developing a second production facility in Alberta, boasting 20 times the capacity of its Saskatoon operation. This new facility is expected to commence operations in early 2026, allowing NRGene to forge substantial commercial partnerships throughout North America.

Comments from Leadership
Gil Ronen, CEO of NRGene, remarked, "Every farm animal has benefited from natural genetic improvements to cater to the rising demand and to boost farmer profitability. We've achieved similar advancements for BSF. The introduction of MaxBSF™ will enable every BSF operation to double its productivity without the need for infrastructure modifications. Our partners can now manage double the volume within the same footprint, transforming organic waste into high-value protein more efficiently than previously possible. This not only increases the profitability of current insect farms but also makes the sector more appealing to newcomers."

Enhanced Waste Processing Efficiency
Luis Ortiz, CEO of Infinite Harvest Technologies, expressed enthusiasm for the MaxBSF™ larvae: "Our practical experience with MaxBSF™ has been outstanding. The solution we provide makes on-site AgriFood waste upcycling both affordable and efficient. By integrating MaxBSF™ into our operations, we can process twice the amount of waste and generate double the protein, directly minimizing the required investment and footprint on farms. The enhanced speed, survival rates, and consistency give us the confidence to scale operations, backed by genetics that supports this growth."

The establishment of this agreement not only underscores MaxBSF™ as a proven commercial solution but also positions NRGene Canada favorably to assist industry partners in expanding their BSF operations across North America.
