Beko's Commitment to Sustainability
For the seventh consecutive year, Beko has distinguished itself in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), earning an impressive score of 86 out of 100. This remarkable achievement underscores Beko's relentless commitment to sustainability within the home appliances sector, as it ranked highest among 79 companies evaluated in this industry.
The 2025 assessment, released on October 16, highlights Beko's dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and effective governance practices. The company’s advancement in these areas is not coincidental; it is the result of several strategic initiatives produced by its global operations. Notably, in 2024, Beko implemented 332 energy efficiency projects, resulting in a significant energy savings of approximately 60,000 gigajoules.
Beko’s usage of renewable energy also reflects its commitment to sustainability. A significant 60% of the total energy consumed in production came from renewable sources, and the company's renewable energy capacity soared to 90 MW. These figures are indicative of Beko's proactive approach to reducing its carbon footprint and reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
The company's dedication extends to its product lifecycle, as reflected in the significant initiatives aimed at circular economy practices. Over 114,000 products were redesigned to enhance durability and reduce waste. Moreover, Beko's water conservation efforts resulted in the saving of over 223,000 cubic meters of water, a critical resource in manufacturing.
Beko's Ankara dishwasher plant has recently been inducted into the Global Lighthouse Network, joining a select group of leading production sites recognized for their innovative technologies and sustainable practices. This status is a testament to Beko's ongoing journey towards a more sustainable manufacturing process.
Looking at future goals, Beko has set ambitious targets to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from its entire supply chain by 2050. Short-term objectives include a 42% reduction in both absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and the same percentage drop for Scope 3 emissions attributed to the product usage phase, aiming to achieve these milestones by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline.
Beko's long-term vision is to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% and Scope 3 emissions by 90% by 2050, aligning with global sustainability targets. CEO Hakan Bulgurlu has expressed confidence in Beko's strategic direction, emphasizing that the company will continually innovate to improve product energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions.
“Advancing technologies will help us enhance the energy efficiency of our products and diminish carbon footprints,” said Bulgurlu. “These perspectives guide our long-term roadmap and strengthen our sustainability performance.”
Beko continues to break new ground in the home appliance sector through its sustainability strategy, setting benchmarks for industry standards while actively contributing to a more sustainable future. The company operates with a clear vision of “Respecting the World, Respected Worldwide.”
