eWeLL Hosts First World Mental Health Day Event in Osaka
On October 10, in recognition of World Mental Health Day, eWeLL Co., Ltd. held its inaugural event in Osaka. This gathering was focused on enhancing the quality and efficiency of home healthcare through digital transformation (DX) and brought together over 50 mental health nurses and related professionals to deepen their insights into the increasing prevalence of mental health disorders.
The Background: Japan's Escalating Mental Health Issues
According to the results of a global mental health survey, Japan's lifetime prevalence of mental disorders is reported to be 22.9%. This staggering statistic underscores the reality that mental illnesses can affect anyone, emphasizing the necessity for public education on mental health and community support.
In light of such findings, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is advancing initiatives aimed at establishing a “Community-Based Integrated Care System” that addresses mental health issues. This system is designed to ensure that everyone, regardless of their mental health status, can live safely and authentically within their communities. It integrates medical care, welfare services, housing, social participation (including employment), community support, and educational initiatives, all of which are essential for fostering a society that coexists harmoniously.
