Adidas Launches Third Edition of MOVE FOR THE PLANET to Support Sustainable Sports Environments

MOVE FOR THE PLANET: Adidas' Global Initiative for a Sustainable Future

Adidas Japan is excited to announce the third iteration of their global movement, MOVE FOR THE PLANET, which aims to support the future of sports environments. This initiative will take place from May 12, 2025, to May 25, 2025. In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, 2025, Adidas invites everyone to register for this event using the Adidas Running App and STRAVA.

Launched in 2023, MOVE FOR THE PLANET encourages individuals to engage in physical activities while contributing to crucial projects that enhance the sporting environment. For every 10 minutes of activity recorded through the Adidas Running App or STRAVA, Adidas will donate €1 towards various sports sustainability projects. This financial support will primarily focus on constructing or renovating sports facilities that can withstand extreme weather conditions, as well as initiatives that promote sustainability education. Previously, the movement has not only logged an impressive 400 million minutes of activity worldwide but has also supported over 8,000 individuals in sustainability education programs, enabling more than 23,000 individuals access to improved sports facilities.

This year, over the course of the 13-day event, Adidas will contribute €1 for every 10 minutes of physical activity recorded via the selected apps, with a total maximum contribution cap of €1.5 million. Featuring an extensive list of activities, from running and swimming to wheelchair rugby and e-sports, the initiative aims to engage everyone with countless enjoyable sports and exercises.

Throughout the event's duration, participants can look forward to exciting engagements including a special climbing session led by professional climber Moe Nonaka as well as exclusive sessions with Adidas's global running community, ADIDAS RUNNERS. These segments are designed to boost participation and awareness across Japan.

MOVE FOR THE PLANET Overview

MOVE FOR THE PLANET is an annual initiative by Adidas, aiming for a more sustainable future through the lens of sports. The funds collected will support social change projects, primarily through the COMMON GOAL initiative, which promotes environmental consciousness and various community activities that harness the power of sports. Additionally, unique partnerships with the UN Climate Change initiative will help provide accessible educational platforms focused on sustainability for sports organizations and NGOs worldwide.

Past projects funded by MOVE FOR THE PLANET aid communities in implementing sports infrastructure. For example, the Greek organization Organization Earth utilized funds to renovate existing sports facilities to create safer environments, while India's Enable Leadership implemented waste management systems to enhance regional infrastructure. New beneficiaries this year include Girls United (Mexico), El Rio (Colombia), Red Deporte (Spain), and United Through Sport (South Africa), all aiming to utilize the power of sports to support the future of their communities.
